Portsmouth Football Club can confirm that Jack Whatmough has tested positive for Covid-19.

The defender was feeling ill on the morning of Friday night’s win at Hull and is self-isolating in accordance with government guidelines.

The club will now implement our internal Covid procedures, although there are no other members of the squad currently displaying symptoms.

We would like to wish Jack a quick recovery and urge everyone to continue following government advice to help limit the spread of the virus.

Two more currently unnamed Pompey players have now been tested positive for Covid 19.

It looks like the home Boxing Day match against Swindon Town will be off !

Portsmouth’s next two Sky Bet League One fixtures against Swindon Town (Saturday, December 26) and Bristol Rovers (Tuesday, December 29) have been suspended.

The club informed the EFL that they would be unable to fulfil the fixtures following recent positive Covid-19 tests and the requirement for players and staff to self-isolate as per EFL and government guidance in order to mitigate against the risk of further infection.

The circumstances surrounding the postponements will now be the subject of an investigation in accordance with EFL regulations.

Revised dates for the rearranged fixtures will be confirmed in due course.
