Contrary to what I seem to read every day on these boards, I actually think he is fantastic. He reminds me very much of a traditional English central defender and in my opinion hasn't played anywhere near as bad as some people seem to think he has. With more games and confidence Im sure he will turn out to be a fantastic player and a future first choice captain. Him and Chester are starting to get it together now and both being quite young can only improve.

I agree that these boards are for us to air opinions etc, but I think as fans we need to stop finding scapegoats for every performance, and even if we win we seem to be having a go at players!

Lets get behind the team, they need that "12th man" and knowing what great fans we are Im sure we can oblige.

There needs to be a degree of sense here.

Just because someone is criticised for having a bad game, doesn't mean he is being made a scapegoat.

Hobbs had a good game against Reading, but he has also had bad games this season and persists in charging in with challenges that don't need to be made which quite often pulls him completely out of position.

Good post, he had a good game on Saturday i thought and after a shaky but not terrible first few games he looks to be getting better. As has been said before, sections of the supporters like a scapegoat and clearly the next choice was Hobbs. He's still only 22 and still learning and we're yet to see the best from him. Expect Hobbs and the other young lads to keep improving with match experience.

i hate this word scapegoat, it seems to have become the word of the year...are you not aloowed to just not rate somebody these days?
harper was accused of it last season, now hobbs..maybe people just dont think there that good, there doesnt have to be a word for it..
i dont remeber there being a "scapegoat" in the seasons before

I'm hoping Saturday will have done the world of good for both Hobbs and Chester. It's very much a fledgling partnership and probably will have helped with the experience of Dawson and basso around them. Hope the partnership is persisted with for quite some time.

He plays better when he isn't captain, keep the captains arm band away from the lad and let him focus on playing

and before anybody asks who should get it in Dawsons absence if not Hobbs, I personally still think Rosenior should be the vice captain

I agree in the sense Harper was called that when really he was just awful. However Hobbs hasn't really had a bad game, none of our players bar Gulacsi have had awful games it is more of the team playing poor collectively. And the criticising of Hobbs just shows that people need someone to criticize when really he hasn't being brilliant but he has hardly being bad. Just had room for improvement.

He's a great player, doesn't get the credit he deserves sometimes. When people say he is poor i think that is mainly down to Chester being even better than he is. Two great players, one has to look worse than the other, doesn't mean he not good.
