Radio Kent have twittered that Jack Payne is back in the squad for Saturday. Maybe he has resolved his problem with MA

From what I hear the problem may not lie 100% at the feet of the manager...

I know MA can come out and say what he wants, but he seems pretty genuine with everything he has said before so I don't doubt it's just he feels jack is a valuable asset that we don't need or isn't in his plans. You would have a valuable car just sat on your drive if your never gonna use it!

Right or wrong MA is the manager and his opinion is we don't need jack and therefore he feels it would be better to make some money to be spent elsewhere! We can't all be man city and have 3 starting 11 of international players and pay them enough to keep them happy!

    Read this guys: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20549573

As I have previously stated, I personally would prefer to have Jack Pyne in the team. He has proven to us that he is a good player. Ok his progress may have stunted under Hess as boss but I feel he started improving again under MA. I would still have him over Montrose at the moment.

Also interesting to see that Danny Jackman was indeed put on the transfer list earlier in the season even though he was our standout player last season.

I don't think that I went as far as that in my assessment of Montrose - and even praised him a couple of times

Over to you bristol407 & WINDYROG

Cannot resist an invitation always. What I cannot understand is the sudden appetite to knock Montrose who has been immense in recent weeks. He has had a couple of MOTM awards at home (one official, one by popular acclaim), he scared the living daylight out of the Wimbledon players and the midfield just evaporated against Exeter when he was subbed but people knock him. Of course his first touch is insecure and he sprays some loose passes but he is there to win tackles in midfield for which he has no peers and he offers quite a bit when attacking the opposition goal. I have no affection for the guy at all and have criticised him in the past but he has been the most effective Gills player over the last 6 weeks or so.
On Payne I can remember the 2009 version which I raved over on old 606 but I haven't seen those performances for a long time in fact he is now always either just recovering from injury or about to get injured which seems the reason for his lost yard of pace. I would be surprised if anyone was willing to pay money for him anymore but he has gone stale here and needs to move on where a new challenge just might rekindle the lost verve. It is last chance saloon for him and people should not think he is the same player as three years ago.

Payne not even in squad. Allen really does not want him. Payne when fit should be in starting line up.

For Jack to recapture the form of 2009 would be great. However Montrose does have the attributes of physical presence and on the occasions he uses this and switches on the footballing side of his brain, he becomes a very useful addition to the side and merits the plaudits that he has had.

Jack is suffering from that eternal burden of unfulfilled potential at present. This is a psychological as well as physical issue and as such he is proving to be a tad too fragile in both departments at present. I hope for his sake that this is, just like our form at present, a 'blip'.
