Should this tournament continue or be scrapped? Not many fans bother to go to the games, all it does is mess up the league with suspensions and injuries.Yes i know "fans" come out of the woodwork for the final at wembley but i hope we get knocked first game.Scrap it!
id scrap it - very few fans are interested in the tinpot trophy (771 and 931 attendences for last years games) , theres no money in it unless you get really far in it. you also get the impression the FA are trying too hard to make it interesting : localised games to ensure derbys, earlier kick offs to appeal to familys, cheaper tickets and inforcing the daft rule about 6 of the players as regular starters. all of this just doesnt work! i always like to see wycombe win, but in the tinpot i care very little.
mowgli1960 - I started a similar thread on the Gills forum at just about the exact same time - didn't expect too much response - but those that have bothered are of the same mind as you and me, your fans, the fans of all the teams involved ( but somehow the FA don't get it ! )
Waste of space. We always lose and I'm sure it's on purpose. If they made entry voluntary I wonder how many teams would enter.
Im with you Mowgli, waste of time and really disinterested, alot of teams worry about Injury and fatigue and the size of alot of squads in the lower divisions are too small to cope! GET RID!
Pompey away a brillant draw for somebody who lives in Southampton shall be able to make a mid-week match for a change, & there will not be 700 or 800 hundred fans the Pompey supporters will turn out.
The Paint Pot is a bit of a novelty for us, being our first season in it. There will be a half decent crowd at Fratton Park. Our 1st Round match against Bournemouth had 5,979 in attendance; the 2nd highest of the round. Not bad considering it was also live on Sky!
an excellent away fixture for the wobblers in the watchingpaintdry cup. i spy a shock result. go get em wobblers!
i don't think many blues fans will go to fratton park so you will have to rely on the pompey faithfull to boost the crowd.
I was toying with the idea of popping over for the match but the thought of being the one spectator in the "away" end doesn't appeal somehow. I suppose I could take a book of sudokus with me. Oh, and a bag of marbles.
Just read the Portsmouth blog some of them don't seem to have any idea where they are in football terms they could end up at the same level as Darlington.
