Garry Monk needs to 'wake up' to Swansea's plight - Iwan Roberts Garry Monk should face up to the fact that Swansea are in a Premier League relegation battle, says ex-Wales striker Iwan Roberts. Sunday's 1-0 defeat by Liverpool left Swansea 15th in the table and four points above the relegation zone. Afterwards Monk said: "There's never any danger of that team being in a relegation fight." But Roberts said: "He needs to wake up, I think, because they're right in it, they really are." Swansea finished eighth in the table last season but they have won only three of their 14 top-flight games in this campaign, prompting speculation over Monk's future. "Only Villa in the bottom six have got a worse record in the last 10 games than Swansea," pundit Roberts told BBC Radio Wales. "For him to say they're not in a relegation fight - they're four points from the bottom three - they're right in amongst it." To contrast this we have Taylor spouting the opposite, that 'we have turned a corner', I wish Taylor would turn a corner............... Link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34960390
Another good read regarding our plight....................... Link: http://www.espnfc.co.uk/club/swanse...continues-for-garry-monk-after-liverpool-loss
I read that we can't afford to sack GM. My question, given the TV money on offer next season, can we afford NOT to sack him?
I agree with what Iwan has said, but I can't stand listening to him. It was a hard read because I could hear his voice as I read it. Difficult times.
At last someone telling the truth. Ray Houghton was saying on Sunday that we are in no danger of going down. Are these so called experts blind, were **** and we know we are!! Problem is Monk doesn't.
Won 1 in 11, haven't scored in 7, no shots on target in last 2 away games, 4 points from relegation. Crisis I gear you say? What crisis? What you on about Willis?!!!
The "experts" don't know ****. They didn't even know the names or positions of the players when we first came up. Then they put the good football they were watching down to the wonderful coaching of Brendan Rodgers. When we knew it was Martinez that got us playing that way. They put the bargains we had acquired down to Brendan as well. When any Jack knows it was Martinez/Flynn and Jenkins/board who were largely responsible. Then they started to criticise passing for passing's sake, the use of the keeper etc. They were quick to get on Laudrup's back. They were quick to get on Chico's back who quite frankly was one of the best value defenders ever signed in the Prem and was one of the most stylish. They praised Monk in his first full season for "getting us back to the Swansea way" when anyone could see we were going away from that style of football.....(but then some of them thought our possession football to be boring all along). Now they are lining up to tell us to be patient and that we should stick by a club legend who has destroyed our way of playing football, has had the benefit of some new (highly paid) players that previous managers could only dream of....some of whom he refuses to use....has had 1 game a week, has had no injuries and is obtaining less points than Laudrup was when he was sacked by e-mail. We have become just like all the other **** Premier teams by taking into account the opinions of outsiders who never had a ****ing clue about us, why we played the way we did, how we got here. Monk being appointed to get us back to our core principles was and is a ****ing joke. We need a manager like Martinez. We got here by playing continental style football and recruiting cheap Spanish and Dutch imports to compliment the English cast offs and the local boys who had the potential to play that style. We had a plan, a ****ing clue....FFFUUUCCCCCCCCKKKKKKK!!!!!
What I wouldn't give to have someone of Martinez caliber to come in to replace Monk, who is completly ruining our footy legacy. ............
What Terror said. Iwan Roberts was spot on. Monk in his interview practically said this group of players is too good to go down. He needs a reality check.
I am absolutely sick of GM, he needs to get himself out of his own arrogant head and realise we are in the **** and it is down to him. He can make as many excuses as he wants but we are deep in a relegation battle and unless the board act soon we will be watching Championship football again next season. I also blame HJ as much for the predicament we are in, he seems to scared to act for fear of criticism from the English press for getting rid of a so called up and coming English manager. HJ this is our club and for the sake of it act now and get rid of the clown running the first team before it is to late.
It looks like it`s going to continue to be a bumpy ride and if things don`t improve by the beginning of new year the knives will be fully out for Munk and Jinx !! Hero`s to zero`s with out a pot to piss in iff in a few years we go down the leagues after missing out on the £100m + and contracts and debts that may follow us etc...? All is not lost yet, it`s still early enough to turn it around survival at all costs now is needed even if they need to play ugly and grind out wins from behind a parked bus till seasons end ! or even crowbar Morgan & Huws signatures to buy a chance of improvement in the not so great January window ? It looks like Munk would have to kick Jinx in the nuts during a game to get the sack ! what strange hold does he have over him i wonder ? cheap ? yes man ? other ??
A slight play on words there, it should have read " he doesn't deserve to be in the position he's in "
When will we see 'Monk the Magnificent' have a brain storm, and put Ayew up front, before it is too late? That's what I'd like to know............
