    2 reasons

    1. Take pressure off the server, from bots etc hitting us.
    2. Make them sign up and therefore more ready to contribute if they have an opinion.

    Any reasons I haven't thought of which are negative?

    Some people prefer a nosey before they join n if they can't do it, it might put them off?

    Try before you buy with the guests is the only negative but then word of mouth should be good enough Mick <ok>

    Do I need to change it from "no swearing" to "swearing" everytime I come on, or is there any way I can save it?

    when you set it as Swearing, it should save forever under your logged in username.
