On a serious note I would have liked to see more of Loftus-C and Rashford during the knock out stages. The trouble is that they both underperformed against The Dutch in the group stage and lost the opportunity to force their way into the side. Others who were the manager's preferred choice never really did themselves justice, but where a part of the manager's game plan, which you must say revived all of our interest. My hope is that Jack Ross can now take up the mantle and give us a similar feeling about our "new" team at SAFC. Haway the Lads, literally.
Personally, I'm not superstitious, I think fielding a weakened team in the group stages against Belgium was the thing that sucked away any momentum. Following that game to going out, we only had 6 shots on target and Harry Kane only managed one and that was the penner he scored against Columbia. I wouldn't have played Stirling or Young and wouldn't have played Walker at CB but that's nitpicking. It was fielding the weaker team that did the damage for me. Still gone from somebody who didn't give a **** into somebody immensely proud. It's a young team with lots of tournaments ahead. I'm still happy overall.
Would have loved to have seen Sessegnon in that LWB role. I think it was a problem for us through the tournament. Young was handy, didn't play badly but I feel Seas would have shredded opponents to pieces. Think we needed to be braver in selection and the way we played to go to the end but you live, you learn. Southgate put a lot of fight into the team and had them ridiculously well drilled. Would have been nice to see more intent and ability from open play. We need to find a couple of centre midfielders before the euros. Hendo, Alli, Dier, lingard and loftus cheek are very decent players but we need a couple of CMs who can really set forwards free if we play that formation. But this is all just retrospective nit picking. Hard to be disappointed with a semi when I expected we'd go out in the 16/8.
http://www.skysports.com/football/n...hgate-plans-after-englands-world-cup-campaign Apparently, he's at the top of the list for future consideration. Maybe we'll see him bombing down the left, attacking Pulisic and Yedlin, at Wembly, in mid-Nov.
Why would he be attacking Yedlin mate? Is England playing the USA in a friendly? I didn't see that in the link. Also, just tried to send you a pm but couldn't??
