AND WE HAD TWO OF THEM - The late great Keith Weller and some bloke called Birchenall!!! Enjoy
Keith, looked like a film star, played like a god...nice to see malcolm "big cigar one lung" alisson, great dress sense..
OMG I was there !!!!!!! Seems an age ago, but those were the days Used to love Weller in his white tights when it was a little chilly !!!!!!!!
Me too ... Keith was my dad's favourite player, whilst mine was 'ello 'ello, Franky Wortho' ... there was also a bloke on the wing called Glover who wasn't half bad too .......... golden days
The production of that piece was gloriously crap - if I ever do some sort of awards thing, I'm gonna recreate 5:10-5:18. Great goal by Weller, Messi would be proud of that. Also what a strike from Birch - Marshall would be proud of that
My favourite Keith Weller goal was at Filbert St where a corner was played to him on the edge of the penalty area and he volleyed it into the top corner ... not sure who it was against now. Years later Paul Scholes copied it .. imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!!! Now I'm off to YouTube to see if there is any of footage ...
Was indeed - there is some footage on Youtube too ... not the best picture - ....technical execution superb ... watching the footage of Weller's mazy runs you realise how spoilt we were in thiose days ... I have a suspicsion that Lionel Messi must have got hold of these videos when he was a kid
