    Hi Bert <cheers>

    Mundell’s post took the p1ss.

Just because he is posting in the Twilight Zone amongst other Duchatelet Fellow Travellers doesn’t mean he should not be challenged. I was pleased to see @lardiman and @ForestHillBilly do so.

Please invite Mundell to listen to Bowyer’s interview after the Cardiff game. A decent man and excellent manager at the end of his tether, because this prick of an owner keeps messing him around.

Let’s just hope Bowyer doesn’t read ITTV - the likes of Mundell might push him over the edge.

Well, at least Jeddez thinks Bowyer deserves a longer contract - a view he shares with 99.999% of other Charlton fans, rather than the inexplicable position of Mundell and erm... nobody else.

Acknowledging that something is wrong, (even if you don't think it worth 'moaning' about) puts Jeddez far closer to the position of virtually every other Charlton supporter, as opposed to believing that Lee Bowyer's current situation is actually good for CAFC, and laughing at a respected ex-player like Darren Bent for disagreeing.

Mundell really is out there in uncharted territory, plotting his own strange course.
Not dissimilar at all to Roland in that respect.

If Mundell had a sense of humour I would suspect he was a WUM.

Some folks over there thought I was a WUM for saying the Club isn't really for sale.
Back in the summer on ITTV, I speculated in a post that Christmas would come sooner than the sale of CAFC.

Well here we are, 30 days to Christmas, and the price of CAFC reportedly ramped up to £60 million - twice what the Club is worth, and everybody knows it.
I suspect my "wummery" is going to be proved correct.

Roland is taking the piss, and he's not even bothering to hide it anymore.
If I owned a house that was worth £200,000 and I put it up for sale at £400,000 nobody is going to buy it.
Therefore it isn't really for sale.
RD is just using the 'For Sale' saga to run the Club indefinitely without any proper investment. Bowyer's contract is of course the prime example of this.

Let's not forget that only 5 months ago, the Club announced on its website it was looking for a new caretaker manager - just weeks after LB's team won the play-off final at Wembley.
That's how much of a prick Roland Duchatelet is.

More and more fans now openly say the sale is a sham, and they are right.

Charlton Athletic FC is NOT for sale.

So you believe Lee Bowyer only having half a season left on his contract is good for Charlton Athletic? Pull the other one.

It’s more like you bought a house for £200k, spent £800k knocking down walls before half rebuilding them again and expecting someone to pay £1mil for your efforts.

    Morning Lardi.
Lets say we extend Bowyers contract by 2 years so he has 2 1/2 years left if the belgian doesnt back Bowyer in the transfer market whats the point.
My question to Bowyer would be would you like a longer contract or £6 million for the January window.
Are contracts now worth the paper thier written on.
If the owner was not going to back me id be happy on a short contract knowing if the owner wants me to stay the next season i want more money.
The main thing in all this is we need the Belgian gone, we will be always one turn away from a cliff with him here.

I broadly agree with most of that.
And if we go out and get Ivan Toney in January (or somebody else as well regarded) I'll admit I'm wrong about RD not backing the Club and manager.
But we all know that's extremely unlikely.

Duchatelet should be offering Bowyer a decent 3 year deal AND backing him in the transfer market.
LB has the potential to get Charlton into the Premier League. Given three or four seasons with 5 to 10 million for players each season, I would even say he has a better than 50/50 chance of getting us to the Prem.

But if RD is too timid to go for it (I can't imagine why, as he is isn't getting any younger, so why not take a punt), at least giving LB a decent contract OR some transfer money would be better than doing neither.

Your last line is spot on.
But if Mundell shares that sentiment he certainly hides it well.

We can all agree about that, but the evidence, such as it is, suggests that he is not serious about selling the club. But he is still running the club as though he does intend to sell, loanees, short-term contracts , no CEO etc. all of which save money in the short term but lose in the long term. Once you accept that he's not leaving any time soon any argument against running the club properly with proper contracts fallsapart IMO.

Contracts are as flimsy as you saying I'll see you in the Bricklayers in 30 minutes.

I keep saying, once Bauer put the ball in the net at Wembley the (non)sale was off.

He is certainly not going anywhere whilst there is a sniff of the money league, he's around for a while.

Long live "The Tiddler's Travels" thread.

Duchatelet is not funding Charlton for a tilt at the Premier League though. That is undeniable.

Of course he is not funding, he is hoping we stumble into another promotion.

Correct. He didn't fund us for promotion last season, but Bowyer achieved it, so why change a winning formula?
