A question chaps! Does anybody know who our Captain was in the 1974-75 team that won promotion under manager Andy Nelson ? It was just a little bit before my time. I remember going to the Valley but I was only a nipper back then and such details have escaped me...
That was my first season, and I suspect that the captain was young Keith Peacock, but am not sure. I looked up my Colin Cameron, and although it gives the team and scorers for each game it doesn't give you the name of the captain.
No help on Captain but... https://www.11v11.com/teams/charlton-athletic/tab/players/season/1976/ Look at our head-to-heads against Millwall and Palace …. awful ….. as we are often told..
I'd hazard a guess at Richie Bowman or Phil Warman, but I was very yoing so ir's little more than a guess.
Andy Nelson said after the first few games that the team contained "too many fairies", and he was going to change the style. It worked!
You couldn’t get away with a comment like that these days. The police would bury you alive under a pile of unsold copies of the Guardian.

Along with the 1968 team, this was my favourite time as a Charlton supporter. We always looked to score a goal even though we left ourselves open at the back. Powell, Hales, Flanagan were an excellent forward combination. The Premiership years I enjoyed but we had a large amount of plastic fans.
