Good morning boys and girls, is it safe to come out and play?

Been quiet for the last few days, looking at the board but not saying a lot, the doom gloom and SAC v NUFC battles got to me, I know how everyone felt but it just got to me.

Like most of you I was well pissed off over the weekend and have found my faith in my team and our manager stretched to the limit, still go into next weekend with a lot of trepidation. Thing is I tend to get it out of my system, have a shout and swear and then find the need to move on just my way of coping with things.

So, moving on I will get back to supporting Bruce and the team because I have little option until I’m told different, cant walk away and its no good pretending and no matter how much I speculate on new managers or players I cant change it. We have 6 games coming up and the sooner we get a win the sooner I can relax, I’m sure one win is all we need to see us stop the rot and start moving up the table rather than looking down, how can I help?

Truth is I don’t think I can, I can turn up and cheer the boys on, and I do, but I did that last weekend and we still lost. Only the team can solve the problem and only the team can put it right. Only Bruce can pick the team and all I can do is hope he gets it right. If I cant do a lot to help the team what can I do, easy answer, try to help me and hopefully we will all help each other to get a smile on our faces between games.

We can continue to speculate on team selection and formation and pray its the last time we will need to do it, next week we could be talking about our fantastic performance, wonderful goals and climb up the table.

If we cant look at the good things on Saturday evening it will be tin hat time again and maybe the first article on Saturday evening will be, “Why Bruce had to go” written by a newbie with the user name
    shortysafc..

Its squeeky bum time and who would have thought it a few months ago ?
On paper we have a really good team, possibly the best I can ever remember, so what the hell has happened ?
I'm at a loss, I dont know if we need to change the manager or not, I dont know if we need to make wholesale changes to the team in the summer ? I just dont know and I am loosing patience with this team at the moment.

Me too. So depressed (about my club) at the moment. After so many losses just cant see an end to this awful run. With another makeshift defence on saturday cant see us keeping a clean sheet so therefore can we score 2 goals or more to win the game? Birmingham are also a bit hit and miss and if their fans get on their backs who knows? Hate being so defeatist but after a season that promised so much drifts away once again. Should be used to it having been a fan for 25 years or so. Anyway respect for those going to the game on saturday. Fingers crossed for a performance and victory. Anyhow back to work...............

    Alright Syd.

As a fan I think one of the biggest problems is we never really know what is going on (except Big Chris (missing him)). Football clubs are pretty much watertight and, barr the odd incident with cigars or airguns, us fans get to know very little. All I know is that we are better than a one man team - he who shall not be named.

We don't know what is happening with the squad...players...staff...management...ownership. What we do get to know is mostly made up or is hearsay from a friend of a friend. I don't want to belittle anyone who does come up with good info (Big Chris again!) but it's just so hard to believe.

This season is a carbon copy of last year....a dreadful run that has cost us dearly. It's very sobering having been so good at the beginning of the season to our usual mid to low table position. Depressing isn't the word. Perhaps we should have showed a little more grace when we were at the heady heights? Remember the banter on 606 from Fulham and Everton fans aboout "false positions"? Oh how we laughed.....

I have to say though I honestly do not believe we will be in the mix for relagation ("but we already are!" I hear you cry). I fully expect the lads to come out battling against Birmingham. Bruce needs to pick himself up before he can do it for the rest of the team. I'm sticking behind him. It's easy when the team performs to say he's the man for the job but it's times like these that we need to give him the support. I fully expect him to be here next season and I hope that he is. Teams need time and managers need time.

It will come good....keep the faith.

    We are Sunderland.

Made an appointment with the Doc. over here, He says are you still a Sunderland supporter, "always I replied. He asked how early I could get in on monday morning. He has some pills for me....a) to cure depression, and ..b) to ease any blood pressure or heart palpitations, if we get beat. He said it was a pity he wasn't open on Sundays. I hate taking pills......it's OK, won't need them 2-0 to the lads

Speaking as a football fan and not as a local rival, I don't think that you will go down. One good result should see you (and us) safe.

The bigger problem is what to do about Bruce. If this was the first time that you had had a slump like this under him, then it could be written off as an unfortunate one-off. But this isn't the case.

The way I see it, Short has to decide whether to back Bruce for another year and give him the funds needed to increase the size and quality of your squad, or get someone else in now to give them time to asses what he thinks needs doing with the squad. I don't know which course of action I would choose if I were him.

It's been a really strange season, and, although Liverpool, Villa and Everton were in a false position earlier in the season, no-one would have expected you guys to be in this situation. You should have been safe weeks ago.

As a Newcastle fan, obviously I am loving it, but as a fellow football fan I can sympathise with your frustration.

made an appointment with the doc over here, need new inhaler. He said are you still a Sunderland supporter? "Always" I replied, why? He said he has some pills for me to take, could I go early Monday morning. I asked what the pills were for, he said I have some for depression and some for your blood pressure, just in case your team gets beat. I hate taking pills, always forget them......sod it! Won't need them...2-0 to the lads

I can't see Welbeck leaving Man Utd to be honest. I really like the lad and would love to see him at SJP but I don't think that there is any chance of it.

Like us, you guys are going to have to spend some money in the summer.

As I've said before, it doesn't really matter what we think of Bruce or whether we want him to stay or go.
I think Bruce is probably A very nice guy but at the end of the day, it's as plain as the nose on your face that the players just don't seem to want to play for him.
Don't know if owt has happened to make this happen or whether they just don't like his methods.
What's more worrying is that he doesn't seem to know what to do about it.
Another game or two like last Saturday & I'm afraid that Ellis just might make the decision for Quinny.
