Well the deed is done so the big question now is where do we go from here.

All of us have our favourite new manager but unless everybody is reading from the same page we might be wasting our time. I read with interest the reasons that Steve McClaren gave for leaving Fores,t and that was that management and he were not working with the same criteria. Maybe that was a copout or maybe it was reality who knows.

My point is that no matter who we appoint the board and the new manager must have solidarity in what's expected and how those goals can be achieved. He must be given the guidelines under which he will manage and how the board will support those ideals. Without those guidelines in place right from the start we risk the debacles of the past and I, for one, do not want to see that happen again.

If ever there was an opportunity for BCFC to get it right this is it, and the happenings of the next few weeks could cement the way forward for the future. So the question remains of whether we will get it right this time or will budgetary restraints limit our possibilities? We can only hope that the change that has been needed at AG is under way and all of our problems are behind us.
 
Mike - Dawn of a new era and all that. There is time to get this right and SL needs to do exactly that. No knee jerk reaction and offering it to the tea lady because she's been there for 6 years...........We need an established manager, a leader in thought and approach and someone who scares the players rigid.
 
Could we possibly get, MARTIN O'NEILL.......................now that would be something!!! saying that though, he may have had is better days, another Steve Coppell!
 
Martin O Neil would be great- though Steve McLarens earlier departure, would seem to pave the way for him with his Forest connections.
 
Not Steve McClaren - great job @ Twente, terrible @ Forest, Wolfsburg & England.

Curbs, Mark Hughes, Dave Jones - all good.

MON - yes please but not likely.

Sorry, Tampa Bay- I meant that Martin O Neil due to his Forest connections, would be far more likely to go to Forest than ourselves. I trust that Steve McClaren, despite his Bristol City connections, would not be considered for the BC job, and I'm sure that the resignation/dismissal of KM and SMc within 24 hours, is purely coincidental.
 
Apart from the enourmous challenge what does Bristol City offer a big name manager? firstly their in a no lose situation as in it cant get worse, secondly, a real chance to make their name by taking a decent group of players and making them a team that will firstly survive this season then push on next year. We can offer a future no other club currently can with the new stadium to be built an improvment on the pitch will see the crowds return the passion at the gate is as big as any club, and laugh as some will with the catchment area we have city really can be classed as a sleeping giant. Martin o'neil just cant see it, McClaren maybe (still remember him playing with his arm in plaster for us) Billy davies possible Joe Jordan (if harry will let him go). Whoever we end up with needs to be tactically good have incredible man managment skills and be prepared to work hard to take us where we all want to be then the new manager would reap his rewards.
 
A big no to Joe Jordan ! Twice bitten and all that, especially the second time he was our manager and left us for Hearts.

Would be over the moon with Martin O'Neill, Avram Grant or Alan Curbishley
Would be very happy with Billy Davies or Steve Mclaren or maybe even McInness
So-so about Dave Jones or any of the L1 managers like Robinson
