It's the Kick-Off... It's like Christmas Day morn, the air is clean, the birds are singing, everybody's smiling and Bristol City are at home for the first match of the season. Drive to the ground, even the idiots are driving with ease, park the car on my old normal, friendly spot, walk down ashton rd to the Coopers, there they all are,all the good old and young boys from last season, all full of hope, bubbling with expectancy and happiness, all dressed like me in the new red tops, still some old ones and some thrusting out their tummies with pride and ale, knees beginning to wobble and a funny feeling in my stomach. 2-15,wobbly,nervous feeling still in my knees, walking towards the ground all together, noise levels are rising, activity all around, buy a program, pay for a draw ticket, through the turnstyle,up the steps, see the daylight, and yes,yes there it is,the grass, the pitch, the goalmouths, the surrounding stands,it's all the same, nothing has changed, down to my seat, all settle down, now stand up and have a look around, hmm don't recognise them,oh look there's big Dave and the boys,Hiya...... The players come out, followed by the officials, here comes the manager waving to all of us,the away fans roar,we all roar back,"Come on you REDS"... The whistle blasts and it's the KICK OFF......
I know our score and yours at the moment, but all I want to say is...well described oldboy. It's irrational but this game of football means so much to us that others don't understand. That's why, idiots apart, I hope you have an ENJOYABLE season, only marginally not as good as ours. It's a joy to converse with you...take care. (We won !!!)
What's that coming over the hill? Besides the Wurzels' team who are over the hill, it's Michael Chopra!!! He loves playing the Wurzels.
