http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18873231 All of this stuff happening to Rangers newco and Rangers oldco is probably going to have a huge impact north of the border. Not to mention the loss of the old firm derby.
As sad as this situation is for both Rangers and Scottish football in general, it was only a matter of time before one of the big clubs had this happen to them. Hopefully it will send a message that any club, no matter how big they are, is susceptible to going into administration or worse.
Tried to take the easy way out and assumed that as they were Rangers, they'd get away with it. Club got what they deserved but fans don't deserve it...awkward one really.
Exactly, they were never going to be accepted back into the SPL just because they're Rangers, even if it will have a big effect on the SPL. It certainly wouldn't set a good precedent that by going into liquidation you would be allowed to stay in the top league, be able to keep all your top players if they refue to join the club and be able to avoid all previous punishments imposed on the old club.

My Dad is a Bury FC fan, and I heard an interesting theory from him which has apparently been bandied about. Apparently newco Rangers may consider buying out a league 1 club (Bury being the main possibility as the club are one of the smallest), and then moving the entire club north of the border, in the same way MK Dons were relocated. The idea of Rangers and Celtic being in the PL is not an old one, and now would be a unique opportunity for Rangers to do it, without the financial losses that would have come from quitting the SPL. They're out of the SPL, so it really wouldn't surprise me if they take advantage of the situation.
Celtic and Rangers in the Prem...an easy 12 points for every other team and only one other relegation place to fill!
I'm not suggesting they are good enough, don't worry! I'd love to see the pair of them in the championship. They'd go in with a 'big club' mentality and flounder in that league for years.
Heard that a while back DH, the only difference with the MK Dons scenario is that Wimbledon relocated completely to Milton Keynes and started as a new club. The Rangers plan was to buy out Bury, but not relocate and effectively keep the same Rangers set up i.e. players, coaching staff, still play at Ibrox but use Bury's name
They'd get battered every week in the Championship...(not that Rangers even exist any more)... I'd think that our League 1 teams would give them a run for their money, possibly (or probably), our League 2 teams too...
Look at the players that have left. Half haven't found a team yet, the rest have gone to a FC Sion, Norwich, Everton, Stoke, Southampton and Coventry. I think that shows the standard of Scottish football at the moment when the players that leave either can't find a club or have gone to mid to lower level Premier League teams at best. And of course now they're in division three they're only going to get worse
