I think it could be a good appointment. He reminds me of SBR how he comes accross, never foul mouthing anyone else!! Good manager, who was maligned for what was a difficult job at liverpool, lost some respect for liverpool for that.

He also has a knowledge of International football but my only concern is will he be able to manage some of the ego's in the team aka Terry and Lampard, who if they don't get there way seem to hold the power in getting managers the sack!!

Whoever takes it will be in for a rough ride but I like Hodgson a lot, Liverpool aside he's been a success everywhere... Generally turning the fortunes of a struggling side, which is what England are

Hopefully if Stuart Pearce moves up with Woy, that should keep in check a certain few 'superstar' players!

could be a good appointment, has the experience as well.

echo those sentiments. excellent manager and totally the right choice for england. some players won't like it cos they won't get their 'easy ride' and the media won't like it because they didn't get their choice. good - nice to see the FA ignoring the media clamour for once and appointing someone with brains rather than the brawn and inevitable hysteria that surrounds harry <ok>

I find it disgusting that the brainless idiots in the media have already got their knives sharpened for him and the poor bastard hasn't been appointed yet! <doh> <yikes>

And then they wonder why no one of any quality wants to take the job! If this is the sort of reaction he can look forward to then if I were him I would say thanks but no thanks.....!

I think the media are more pissed off because they didn't get wind of it and it made then look silly. I really hope they give him a fair crack at the job. seems to be one of the decent blokes in football.
