Agyemang ready for QPR forward fight By Jacob Murtagh Jul 19 2011 Share Add a comment Recommend PATRICK Agyemang reckons he's never been in a better position to force his way into QPR's starting XI. The Ghanaian frontman made the shock claim despite the signing of England striker Jay Bothroyd, while boss Neil Warnock still wants to add more firepower to his squad. Agyemang has struggled with injuries for the past few seasons and is approaching the new campaign with a clean bill of health for the first time in years. And the 30-year-old, who was on target in last night's 13-0 demolition of Tavistock, insists he can win a place up front. He said: "We need good players if we are playing in the Premiership. Hopefully the extra competition can bring out the best in people. "I'm 100 per cent fit I feel I can do anything. It's the first time in a while that I haven't broken down in training, which is good. I've been working hard on my fitness and my strength work. "I need a good pre-season under my belt. In the past I've been playing catch up, especially last year, and when I came back the boys were flying. It's important that I get a good start." Hogan Ephraim smashed four goals as Rangers ran riot in the South West, with Agyemang also opening his account for the summer. He added: "The more games I play during pre-season the more goals I will score and the more confidence I will get. "Everyone's on trial. Even though we went up, the gaffer's bringing in a lot of players so no one's place is safe. It's good competition." Do these injuries affect eyesight? Seemed like the main thing missing in Dave's game last season was knowing where the goal was...
"The gaffer's bringing in a lot of players so no one's place is safe". ========================= If he ain't ITK then no one is.
Agyemang to be this years surprice package in the Premier League ! I wouldn't mind http://www.ealinggazette.co.uk/sport/qpr-ealing/2011/07/19/qpr-striker-prepared-for-bothroyd-battle-64767-29080745/?
IF we can get him to change his christian name to something Italian, do you reckon we could flog him to Man City for a few quid?
I guess the worst thing about this is that it reminds us just how ridiculously long were the contracts dished out in that initial splash by Flav and Bernie. Dave is eagerly anticpating yet another year on the books without even worrying about a new contract. How many others from that first January window are still with us?
