really sad to read.. Never rated Oscar more than Mata..

coming out public can - as always produce two results - better response from the player or more sulking..

just wish this is not the beginning of the end!

Mourinho on Mata: 'He will be playing from the beginning against Swindon. I hope he tells me I have been wrong on the pitch'.

Mourinho on Mata: 'He's a top kid, and a very good professional, so I am waiting for a professional reaction'.

Mourinho said this after the Fulham match. You can tell he wants a reaction from Mata.

unbelievable, jose really has lost it if you ask me, like' mata needs to prove anything? its all about jose's ego if you ask me and maybe mata being a bit more special than he is. or maybe he is just tryiong to piss the spanish media off.

Can`t WUM but also can`t really argue with anything you guy`s are saying.
You can`t be voted the clubs player of the season then have to prove anything.

I'd say we're spoilt for choice in midfield, and if we have anything close to the number of games we had last season, then we're going to have to ensure they are rotated a bit! Having said that his stance over Mata seems wrong!

Mata does not defend, this is why is not playing. If he starts helping out defensively then he will play more often.

No your wrong everyone in the team needs to defend. One of our best defenders was drogs. I lost count of how many corner kicks it was him heading to safety. He wants mata to do dirty work as well thats how you win titles!

on the bright side, we were hopeless without Mata last season..
that is never good for our team. that is getting changed..

oscar was always subpar in our ohm factor..
    he gets a boost now

two positives out of this ordeal

As much as I love him, Jose does seem to have an even bigger ego than last time, but is not nearly as funny. I am sure the situation with Mata is simply to try and make Jose the "big one" and Mata just "another one". Ditto for Luiz.
It's utter bollocks of Jose to say Mata doesn't work hard, how would he know, he's never on the pitch long enough to raise a sweat, so he can't even be match fit.
Jose can talk all he likes, God knows he's a world Champion at that as well, but the time is coming when the team has do do the talking for him.So far they are talking gibberish. It's not about you Jose,we all put our trust in you, don't take the piss with us.

5 games into the season and apparently Jose has already 'lost it' <doh>

We need to get out of the mindset that Mata is all that matters (pardon the pun). It is a TEAM game first and foremost, and has anyone not been following Jose interviews? Does taking time for embedded philosophies to change not mean anything?

Mata may have been our most productive attacking player last term, but he was also (by far and away) our most unproductive defensively with the exception of perhaps Torres. Oscar is already the better defensive player and offensively, I believe he has a higher plateau than Mata. So given a choice, Jose is right in playing Oscar, at least until Mata has proved he can be as productive as before in a new philosophy/system.

Do you not think that last seasons Mata Oscar Hazard trio looked better than anything we've had this season though? I agree totally about Mata defensively but we didn't buy him,or Hazard, for that and if Jose doesn't like that type of player why didn't he sell/exchange to get Rooney or someone he does?

Yes, but reverting to last year's philosophy would probably mean finishing at about 72 points again. We need to be targeting a 15 point improvement to challenge for the title, and that means change. That means defending from the top and stop giving away sloppy late goals (ala all last season, and this season vs Basle).

What does Mata need to prove ? Surely he's already proved that he's one of the best MF in the premier league ?

Which is why I find it even more bizarre that he kept Mata and didn't use him to get a striker. He already bought Willian who is the type he likes.

Although I totally disagree with what Jose has done with Mata, he isn't a very versatile player. I think Jose wants him on the left tbh with Oscar in the middle.
