I know it looks to some that my little depressions about some of the players we are being linked with is a dig at MON, nothing could be further from the truth. Like wise its not the gossip that gets me, its the apparent acceptance that this is how it is. For far to long I have watched my team bring in squad players and sell good ones and right now we have lots of good squad players. Not that long ago Bruce brought in Bent, Gyan and Welbeck, Bent scored goals for fun, Gyan lit the place up and Welbeck showed what was possible. Yes it all then went tits up but, for a time we looked a team, we had excitement. Lets agree that Bruce brought in some good players and lets agree that MON is a far superior manager than Bruce, what I want and expect is for MON to be given the chance to use his superior skills on the better players. Yes I hear but how do I know MON is not looking at those players, I don't but like I said, I'm not having a dig at MON, I never have been any more than I love Bruce. What I don't get is the, well he would be a good squad player mentality.
totally agree mate players who come in need to be young players who are potentially better than what we have or players who are better than what we have. The only area a club needs to look for squad players in a 3rd choice goalkeeper which we will need but as for outfield players I will be very disappointed if we bring in players just to fill our 25man squad. the likes of Andrews would of been oryt in our first and second season's back in the prem, this is our 6th!!!! we need to be adventurous and take interest in the foreign market for good footballing footballers who are available at better value for money, its worked wonders for Newcastle and they certainly upset the apple cart last season and are now after really good players in Debuchy, Anita and De Jong in there 3rd season back!!!!!
Maybe some could, but i have never heard of most of these random names mentioned....well it is funny season. Let's see what happens in the next few months.
