so can Norwich and Swansea In fact the majority of the "also rans" in the Prem give it a go but we are so slow ponderous and boring Yet occasionally when Pulis takes the brakes off we look entertaining Picking up on Smithers point I think to a large extent the personality of the manager dictates the style of play and that is why one look at and listen to Pulis says it all Survival through dogged defending Although the MOTD editors often fail to show our occasional best bits we make it so easy for them and you can bet that unless Bolton give us a mullering this afternoon the highlights of which we will no doubt make a boring game will be brief Pulis deserves credit for getting us to the promised land and with PC's generosity he has built a solid foundation and until recently a team that was not easy to beat but we now need an ambitious charasmatic manager to take us forward Jose's query re comparisons with the Waddo teams was a fair question but made difficult because life society and the game has changed so much but back then we played beautiful football and entertained I hate to be critical of the lads but I would just love us to have a go rather than be so negative If we had done that against Arsenal ( other than for RVP ) we could have gotten something because their defence was shaky I will watch this afternoon and hope that as ONB said Pulis was converted on the road to Damascus whilst in Tel Aviv last Thursday SiS
I think my point was on the other thread, that there are certain games that the odds will be stacked against us (especially away) and we are likley to leak 2/3 goals anyway. So we might aswell have a go, because the result will not change unless we perform like we did against Man U - and he ho look what happened. I said at the beginning of the season that I feared this season would be much tougher, because the newbies play football, make chances and score goals! The likes of QPR also seem to be able to attract players that we cant which underlines a fundemental problem for me. If we are to finish mid table this year we have to be able to beat the bottom half week in week out, something we have struggled with since our 2nd campaign in the prem. Drawing with a lower team keeps them in contention, like now we are currently just 6 points of the bottom 3 and the likes of swanse and norwich are on a par. Instead of drawing and losing to them and beating liverpool and drawing with Man U and Chelsea, we would have the same points (give or take), but norwich and swanse would 3 points adrift. Thats what draggs us back at the end of the season!
