As an Eastleigh supporter I hope it’s OK to mention this on this forum. Around six years ago we were going through a difficult time and wondering what our club’s future was, when we suddenly found ourselves with a new club owner in the form of Mr Stewart Donald. There was no quick fix when Stewart arrived and there were still quite a few bad days including many many months without an away win. Gradually, though, the corner was turned. I don’t know whether our experience of SD (and our then manager Richard Hill who followed Stewart to Sunderland) would give any indication of what to expect over the next season or two at the Stadium of Light. There is though, for anyone interested in his time at Eastleigh, an interesting book which follows the club’s fortunes over the second full season of his ownership. It also gives the background to his takeover of Eastleigh FC and a good synopsis of the first full season of Stewart’s regime. The title is “The More We Win the Better It Will Be”. It was written by sports journalist Paul McNamara. It gives some fascinating insights and is available from the mainstream online booksellers and also directly online from the publishers: https://www.troubador.co.uk/bookshop/sport-hobbies/the-more-we-win-the-better-it-will-be/
Yes he did. He left the club debt free and with the resources it needs to become wholly self sufficient. As you can imagine though our aspirations and expectations might not be quite as high as they were.
