Ok, this is not a wind up. It's been a very difficult season and most of us feel like s**t seeing our beloved R's throw away another rare chance in the top flight. This thread may die a sudden death but I'v started it to try and lighten the mood on our forum. Please add any uplifting QPR content and please leave negative QPR related stuff for all the other threads! I will get the ball rolling with this timeless post match interview with Olly...
and this one QPR v Cologne. was at this game and what a game! the third by stan after a great run by the late dave clement....superb!
October 20th 1973 - Oh happy days for us - great ball distribution by Phil Parkes to Dave Thomas on the wing to provide the breakaway goal for Stan Bowles. Not sure if that was a bit of time wasting by our supporters with the failed attempt to get the ball back into play late in the game when we were 3-2 up. What a great servant Mick Leach was to our club - not flamboyant but he sure got the job done with a wonderful volley and also making the play to secure the penalty.
Leach got a lot of stick I seem to recall, but as you rightly say, he was qpr through and through. Good days.
Our wonderful 2010-11 Championship promotion season and Taarabt single handedly attempting to break down Wolves in a losing Premier League cause at Loftus Road.
I'm not sure if this belongs to this thread, but it was a good time to be a Ranger! I watched the Colchester Preston game on television. It was far more entertaining than most Premier matches that have been on Sky. Not technically as good, but the heart & endeavour of the Colchester players in particular was superb. Plus the fact that Risdale has connections to PNE made me delighted with the result! It also reminded me of the last time we played in the Third Division. Is there any of us that wasn't proud to be a Ranger? The period between Boxing Day 2002 & that memorable day in Sheffield in May 2004 was something special. Again, the football wasn't always good (though some days we really played!) but I have never felt closer to the players & management than at that time. It was as if we were as one with the club, I doubt that we will ever achieve that again. Anyhow, I would take those days anytime rather than what we have endured over the past four years! I too watched the game for the same reason as you, better than the Premier league fare that was on on offer. Cracking game full of good old honest endeavour, crunching tackles and total commitment. Thoroughly enjoyed the game and so pleased that Colchester got the result and stayed up.
