16 players are out of contract again in the summer. Now, whether you want to keep a player or not, at least have the ****ing decency to talk to them. Simon Clegg has finally EMAILED Carlos and Jason about their contracts. These players are both in the first team. No wonder there's no motivation. Paul Jewell says Edwards was spoken to a long time ago, which apparently constitutes 'trying'. “I have to be honest about it, we haven’t spoke to those particular players since last year,” said the Blues boss, whose side are at fellow Championship club Hull today in the FA Cup third round. “We will be speaking to them – but both of them are 33 now. “We did offer Carlos a new contract last year but he chose to turn it down. It’s not like we haven’t tried on that one.” Clegg, Jewell, Evans... please kindly **** off and go and find another football club to mismanage into oblivion.
And you have had your leg lifted by signing Jimmy Bullard, also 33, for 2 years. You are in good company, he shafted us and Fulham as well. Actually I think you are too good to go down, but it is going to be a hard year for you. Like with us a couple of years ago, your management are letting your fans down.
The only place within the club where there are not problems are the turnstyles! We have no backbone to the team on the pitch and no backbone in Clegg or Jewell either, I can't see anything other than relegation and ruin for our club, sad times.
TBH, whoever is in charge is going to find the same problem, Clegg! Thats not saying i want Jewell to stay as i think he has had a chance and should at the very least be sorting out the crap defence we have. The worse thing about all of this is that Ipswich town is not an attractive option for a player now, except for one thing and that is the wage they could be earning. Thank You ME, Clegg, Keane & Jewell you have seriously ****ed up a once great football club!
I was happy when Jewell said he was responsible for player negotiations but it seems that Clegg is taking charge of getting Sean St Ledger on board. I guess we can either expect him to sign on a ten year deal for £30,000 a week or not at all!
I wouldnt have contacted Edwards either, in fact I would be actively looking to kick him out. Scotland has been decent for us this season and is one of the few I would give plus marks to but given his age and high wages I wouldnt be clambering to get him into the office either. I take it the comments only relate to contract talks and not just any old contact and if I am correct then frankly who cares? I would want to make them sweat as well. I think the fact that we offered Edwards a new contract previously is a lot more worrying then the fact we havent chased him up again.
