BR is doing a job, and his job is football Management and he has been offered one of the biggest jobs in Football. Liverpool. Who could blame him for turning it down and he always maintained that at some point he wanted to move on to a big club and now the opportunity has arisen for him, a little sooner than we would have liked. Is it a wise move the way liverpool fire their managers? Or the kiss of death .Only time will tell. Half way through the season and Liverpool are in 10th? well that's the risk he is taking. But work wise we always take a better job when it comes along. or what sounds like a better job don't we?.
I like liverpool, always did, despite them stoning our bus when I was a 13 year old kid after the FA cup quarter final game back in 64 or whenever. Toshack, Callaghan, Tommy Smith and all that were great servants to us.
So thanks Mr Brendon Rogers, what a fantastic thing you did for us, bless you and good luck to you and your family, but who is the next Manager? I am so dreadfully disappointed to see him move on but ultimately, who's next, no point on dwelling on it. I like Mick McCarthy. I thought Wolves were seriously wrong to sack him, not sure his style is our style, but I like him. What do you reckon?

fair enough on BR NJS, time will heal and for me he will always be the one who got us to the Prem, albeit ably assisted by the good work done by Martinez and Sousa. But McCarthy? thats a real big NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

BR always said he would leave fro a bigger club and he even had it written into his contract. Don't see how it's a surprise that he's done what he said he would do. Maybe some people just don't listen to what he says. But he's left now so let's hope we get a good replacement. Holloway is favorite but I think that would be a mistake.

    McCarthy? No
    McKay? No
The usual suspects that are always hanging around (Bruce)? No
    Poyet? Yes
    Laudrup? Yes
    Solkjaer? Yes

"It's not a question of loyalty"

To me it is. Excuse me for expecting, or hoping at least, for some loyalty from a manager who got given a perfect opportunity when no-one else fancied him, who was subsequently given everything he asked for, and 2 years later he walks out after saying he wouldn't. Maybe I'm an idealist, maybe I'm just not a ****.

    You're not that, Scott <laugh>

Just naive. I've posted elsewhere we gave this guy his break when nobody would touch him. He repaid us with Prem football. We're even, surely?

Disagree sorry. He took over a club that had finished 8th, then 7th, and the natural progression was to hit the playoffs. Granted, he delivered, but I think the idea he was the only manager capable of this is false. We might not have looked as pretty doing it but he walked into a perfect scenario and he knew it. Like I've said, one more year and he wouldn't have had any complaints from any of us.

We stayed up this year, and if he'd have stayed we'd definitely have signed Siggy and the continuity going into the second season would have helped massively, as well as any other signings he had lined up. All of that is gone now, and we are one unlucky appointment away from the wheels falling off. I'm not saying that'll happen, but Brendan has created that possibility due to what I think is an egotistical approach to his career. He has plenty of time left, and while we can't claim he owes us anything I think if he was the man of "integrity, pride and passion" (or whatever subsequently incorrect adjectives he used to describe his approach) he would have stayed another year.

I don't think all of his media-savvy empty platitudes have helped. There are no longer any Sir Bobby Robson's in the world I'm afraid

I feel for you guys, I really do, but he has at least single handedly got you to the PL, Rodgers can't claim that because 2 other managers (and more, debatebly) did the groundwork for him. Liverpool are now trying to **** us around for compensation.
