Hardly a golden era and the fact that Captain Cee Bee was,for the second time,right behind market leaders in a G1 hardly endorses the form.

Lanzarote,COE et al were way before my time...I started getting into racing at age 10 and remember Night Nurse,Birds Nest (my fav with the trainers son riding shorter than Lester) Monksfield,Kybo,Dramatist,Sea Pigeon...unreal crop of talent..
 
Brough,BW didn't run at Kempton...he's too slow or "..the track doesn't suit him.." as NH said.

Re his options..what are they?..These cottonwool clad slow coaches have the Betfred,KG,Lexus as early season Grade 1's..after that there is the Hennessy,CGC,the arse of a race at Liverpool and Punchestown.
 
Well you have seen all the greats of that era Dex, that everyone calls the Golden era of hurdling. I cant comment on that but its great watching the old videos.

That was the best Champion Hurdle ive seen but even Istabraq was before I got into racing so not got much to go on.
 
Istabraq would have been right up there..forgot about him...not to mention See You Then trained by the master.

I hate to sound like Barneys bitch but Sir Nicky of Henderson is the best trainer of jumpers since Fred Winter...a fantastic role model for any young trainer...The title genius does him a huge disservice.

Exactly Stick and given the ammo he will hit the target...he justs need a big breakthrough winner to attract the big owners...very talented guy and places his horses extremely well which tbh is 90% of training.

Having said that,Jamie Snowdon's remarks post race on Tuesday were far from classy..I think he is a NH graduate.

Interesting your CL comment. I think he would have been distraught at hitting the bar with JP's Pendra at the Festival. Would have been a real catalyst in my opinion. He has some great owners who don't mind buying stores on his say so but they all cost between 12 and 20 grand. he needs the ones that will risk 40 plus!
 
I wonder what price you could get Annie Power to win the Gold Cup 2016? Would never do mind due- but looks talented enough to win in at some point in here lifetime especially if she goes chasing next term
 
Once again the 'scattergun' approach paid off in the CGC. Backed the first three each way at mostly 33/1, 40/1 and 25/1. Of course many other bets were lost or NRNB however a very successful CGC. For a few minutes I even thought about having two winners in one race !!!

Now for 2015, have placed each way bets on O'Faolains Boy, Smad Place and Champagne Fever. I will review the running of this year's CGC before considering any of the participants for 2015 edition. I think Bob's Worth and Lord Windermere are the horses I have in mind at the moment.

Fifty one weeks to go however it will soon be November at Auteuil!!
 
It far to fooking early BOS! Having said that I have just checked oddschecker for the CGC 2015 odds: Bobs Worth as short as 8s, First Lieutenant, whom connections felt they had other horses more capable the last 2 years, as short as 25s. Both of these will be 10 next time around and if there is one thing I've learnt from last week it is to avoid horses that are advancing in years at all costs. Oh and that Pipe nutcase that won the Arkle is 25s too. I'm almost tempted to open a Betfair account and start getting into this laying malarkey.
