Iâm going to leave myself open to all sort of abuse here by going against the grain, but Iâve never been frightened to fly in the face of public opinion, I have to say that I have enjoyed this season. That doesnât mean that I havenât been as disconsolate and inconsolable at times as anyone else on this forum, nor does it mean that I havenât felt as let down by the lack of effort and application by certain players throughout the season and it doesnât mean that Iâve not been as angry at some of the diabolical refereeing that we have suffered. Let me take you back to 26th November 2002. We were in Division 2. We just about had our noses above water but our feet were encased in the concrete boots of the ABC loan. We had gone 8 matches without a win when we became a national laughing stock when Vauxhall Motors knocked us out of the F.A. Cup. How miserable did you feel then? If someone had said to me then that within 10 years we would be back in the Premier League Iâd have sent for the men in the white coats. This season we have beaten Arsenal and Spurs, won at Everton, had the most incredible comeback to beat Liverpool, and above all else possibly beaten the next European Champions. Good God, we even won a game in the F.A. Cup. But there is so much more to Q.P.R. than that. We have some players who have made us very proud this season. Clint Hill, Shaun Derry, Jamie Mackie and Heider Helguson were all dismissed as Championship players, all have far exceeded expectation. In Tony Fernandes and Amit Bhatia we have an ownership team that most other clubs in the country would die for, both have been bitten by the Q.P.R. bug. Loftus Road may be dilapidated but is one of the most atmospheric stadia in the country and we have the best supporters in the universe. And do you know why they are the best? It because we all, deep down, know that we are so very lucky to still have our club. Every match is a celebration of that simple fact. Considering what weâve been through, relegation will just be a minor setback. We will return. Back in 2002 I would have settled for the club just still existing in 10 years time, I didnât ever expect to see Q.P.R. back in the Premier League, I HAVE ENJOYED THIS SEASON.
When you put it like that, we are fortunate really, Roller. Just one question; he's being playing a blinder so far this season, but will poor old Cicero get another chance to show us what he's got?
Best season for a long time and a great post ... I would love 45 seconds in a room with some fans on here (I would only need 15 seconds apart from the few I would eat). I do love the drama and I say bring it on but if we go we at least go down fighting and install a bit of belief again. I am certain we will come back better prepared ... not into excuses really and in two weeks time the whole thing gets wiped and we start again... looking forward to reading the formations of flyer etc as we could be tackling the championship and if haven't won it by mid April then I am off to support Montpellier
Totally agree Roller staying up or going down it's been another entertaining season as a QPR fan. Moments which I'll remember for the rest of the Life with moments I'd sooner forget. As your name says, ups and down all they way along, Rangers we love you. Spot on.
I said at the start of the season that I would enjoy it win, lose or draw and I've done just that. The drama of whether we stay up or don't is far better than what we had to put up with last season with the Faurlin saga. If we stay up it will be mega, if we go down I don't think it will be a disaster. Onwards and upwards, you Rsssssssssssssssssssssss
Good positive thread. In the history of the club, we are in a good place. How many times did the Baggies yo-yo up and down before becoming a bit more established? The last 2 games (three for Bolton) are just too tense now. Given the Pollock 'non goal' that was a goal, what a grim irony if we go down behind Bolton by a point or a goal difference!
Well done roller, let's keep everything in perspective. We are all QPR fans, we are all still hurting. Not one of us wants anything other than the best for our club. Nobody wants to see our club relegated. But we will come back stronger. Thats a fact.
Classic Roller, just what we needed. I have loved this season, every minute of it, even in a perverse way, yesterday. We got thumped by the Champions League finalists, who just beat the best team in the world......and we have already beaten them this season! The ardour will not dampen should relegation happen ( it ain't over yet), but the Prem is where this club, and more importantly these fans, deserve to be. The club is in a much better place than 12 months ago, and whatever the next two results, the future is hooped.
Good stuff Roller. I have to be honest and say that with a few notable exceptions I've not particularly enjoyed this season. Perhaps, Faulin-gate aside, we were a little spoiled last season and the contrast between being a side winning nearly every game to being one that usually loses has been a bit of a shock to the system. One things I've not been disappointed with though is our brilliant fans. Plus, we finally seem to have decent owners who seem to be in for the long haul. Bright things are ahead. Onwards and upwards! U Rsss!
FFSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, Dave, give it a buckin rest mate. Now i can't even slag or praise Swords without knowing which one of you it is.
I am the new Swords as the old one really supports Liverpool . I am the model with many advanced features It has taken me a season to evolve but I feel much better for it ... I can clearly see that my 8th position was unrealistic and that our players were in fact rubbish . Call it education it's very refreshing as I have learnt we are all swords In time you will forget the old swords and come to I hope respect the new more balanced one Blessed are the chessemakers
