Well said Pirate, another bloody marvelous day. Tthe way the team have performed since the big G came here has certainly convinced me we are a going to be a serious force next season. The whole place has a positive vibe thanks to the gaffer. Just hope that he keeps under the radar of clubs looking for a new manager in the close season and finishes the excellent job he has started with us. I hope the board give the Lambo cash to the boss.
That was the best I've seen us play all season. Some of the attacking play was superb - quick, one-touch pass and move stuff, incisive and finished ruthlessly. Great performance all round - Harrold and Muzzy were unplayable first half, Paterson was good, Michael Smith came in and did a good job, Downes won everything, Lund was excellent when he came on. It really was a fantastic performance. I honestly think we might struggle to hang onto Muzzy as he's ripping defences to shreds at the moment and can clearly play at a higher level, but, if we do I really think we can challenge for the top 3 next season. A great day - wonderful respect shown to Alfie Biggs, even that one-boy pitch invasion at the end was hilarious. McGhee has made us hard to beat AND we're playing great attacking football - bloody hell is this Bristol Rovers???
I was at the Mem yesterday, albeit supporting my other team Accrington Stanley, I was very impressed by the Rovers team & Carayol in particular.....you have to hold onto him for next season. As a City fan I was happy to be there to give my respect to the great Alfie Biggs....and pleased the Stanley fans applauded too......shame the drummer with his drum was thrown out though. Still well played the Gas, your sure going to be a force next season !!!
thanks bigjohn. i havent been going recently due to other things going on which im sure you understand. its typical that i get to witness buckles ****e but miss mcghees last 2 games at home scoring 12 in these 2 games! carayol wants to stay. he is happy so he says. he wants to play for mcghee who has given carayol this confidence. i hope he stays. with him we will be strong next season. however as you know, we are a selling club. if a good price comes in then mcghee needs to tell the other team to **** off but if its a great price the mcghee may agree as long he can re-invest using the money. his time away from management he said he has been doing a lot of scouting work for himself when he returns to management. im expecting mcghee to bring in a couple of carayols if his scouting network and contacts are as good as he says! apparently we get £250,000 for lambert getting to the prem. that money and the fa cup money covers buckles payout and we will be left with a lot of change so hopefully we dont need to sell this summer. a few high earners contracts will be up in the summer so even more money available for the budget for next season. i hear the season ticket sales have been good for next season already. thats good news as in league 2 we can only spend up to max 60% of our income to show we are spending with our means. thats why crawley had to get rid of their strikers as they were over 60% as they get under 2000 at home which is poor. higher attendance the more we spend.
Rovers were up for it yesterday especially Harrold,Muzzy(another class in this league),Downes,Gill and Bevan even though he flapped for the goal they scored,should have been stronger (blame it on the wind). Richards did not get into the game prob out celebrating his new contract this week,agree we need Mcghee to pick up another Caryol for the left midfield/attack Paterson played well although has not got the legs much prefer him in defence.Smith had his best game so far this season. It was a very open game with no nasty tackles (all getting ready for the sunbeads) however there defence were really poor,no way can that have been there first choice defenders. Our defence was all at sea in the first 20 or so mins pulled this way and that by there attacking movement.settled down once Harrold scored the second Satisfying enjoyable win even though there was little to play for either team. Thanks bigjohn....our performance yesterday was better than v Burton, when almost everything went our way. Carayol really is something special. The ease and speed with which he goes past defenders is amazing. Coupled with that is his willingness to track back and tackle, which he can do well. I'm sure he's on the scouts' radar!
Very good game yesterday, and i only paid a tenner for it!! gas will be a big force next season with a few additions on the horizon, according to MM. Let's hope we get up to league one just in time to play the **** and watch the Shrews fall below us
