    This is an EnderMB thread...

I'm actually pretty excited about this one, assuming that the fans can not be dicks about it and can support the best football that Bristol has to offer. We don't play nearly enough derby matches against Rovers and given that both teams are struggling it'd be good to get some kind of spirit pumping around the city.

It's great to play our local rivals, good for Louis, fun for us local fans and a good fixture for a friendly but let's put it in context,BRFC in any way, shape or form are just a lowly, level 4 club,it will be a big step up for them to play against a Championship club,a bit of a cup final and their fans will be chuffed but we have got the likes of Wolves,Bolton and Blackburn to follow,it's just a continuation policy,a training excercise, subs, formation changes will take place, so when we get our result against the "gas" it's only a warm up,regardless.

Let's enjoy that game but we have got far more important things to consider than just Bristol Rovers..

depends if our players are motivated or not, of course you're players will be massively motivated playing a bigger club and all that..

But I fear our players will just treat it like a boring old friendly.. but motivated or not we should beat a mid table league 2 club.

Of course you should. Anything less than a three goal winning margin
    and you've got problems!

What a disappointment, not just for the player that is on the edge of breaking the City record for the highest appearances but also for the supporters that such a great occasion has only been rewarded with a fixture against rovers. Why didn't this testimonial committee try and get a big club? Wouldn't Louis had loved to of seen Arsenal, Spurs, Man u or Man c turn up for him? Instead of a sell out crowd you'll have Louis playing a bunch of nobodies, this celebration certainly isn't up to expectations, I'd rather give Louis a tenner in his hand and say thank you me babber.

Bristol City is Mark McGee's aspiration......

' Today it was announced that Rovers will play Bristol City in pre season, a fixture that Mark is really excited about.
He said: "I think this is a brilliant game. We are currently in different divisions, but it is our aspiration to catch them and get up beside them.'

given that there are 2 leagues between us this seems the only way for the derby to happen - hopefully Louis will get a good turn out

Shows you what a tit Chrisgas is,first it was,"We are the Barceona of the 4th tier". Now a new season is coming and he is already saying over in "gasland" ...."You will be playing the Man City of league two"...what a twat...

Question, have any of you heard of any RED saying we are what he described because I haven't, he is telling apple pies again......

I'm hoping that the actual event goes off without any needless violence, and that this is a fixture that we can have on most years in order to bring fans into both stadiums. There's a lot of top-quality banter between City and Rovers, but ideally this banter would mean something if we were both in a respectable position in the footballing ladder.

Looking forward to this game will be better than playing another foreign or lowly prem club should be a full house, wonder as it is a testimonial if any city old boys will get on for the last 5 or so mins I know other clubs have done this which would be a nice touch and still keeping 95% the game competitive
