Chico Flores is about to finally move away from the orbit of Real Mallorca. Genoa, owner of the rights of the central Andalusian, has received an offer of four million euros from Swansea Michael Laudrup, a team that this season has been promoted to the Premier League.
Both Genoa and the player will say yes to the operation. The four million fill the ambition of the Italian side. And the player will charge a card that doubles what he had offered at Real Mallorca.
The signing of Chico has been a request of Michael Laudrup.

Don't know anything about him but at least he's a centre-back.

Hmmm.... doesn't thrill me at first glance. He's 25 and stands 6ft 2" but has no particular pedigree. He's bounced about a bit at the lower levels in Spain and the maximum number of appearances he's made for any one club is 47. That indicates to me that he can't hold down a place for any length of time.

Maybe ML sees something in him but I would never pay anything like £3+ million for that sort of track record.

Chico helped Mallorca enjoy the fourth best defensive record in La Liga last season Ivor, so he must be doing something right! anyway here's an extract from another article on him.

Fair enough, Dragon. As I said, ML must see some value there and he, obviously, is a far better judge than I am.

£3m for a decent La Liga defender is a tidy deal.

Spain is probably one of the best markets at the moment for picking up quality cheap players , a lot of clubs are struggling i.e falling attendances and spiralling costs .There's always a positive for someone in a recession not that it's a laughing matter
