Tonight showed that without Cabaye, we don't really have much creativity.

Ben Arfa is AMAZING, don't get me wrong. But he can't work miracles, we need another creative attacking midfielder.

Not to mention, RB, CB and a STR :)

We need someone to fill what was Demba Ba's spot on the left of the 4-3-3 last season, and rotate our strikers. Definitely need another CB so we don't have to see Willo as much, and someone to bed in at LB so we don't have someone completely new to the team when Simpson goes next summer.

But come on, we all knew that in June this year...

You have outstanding players. You don't need new ones, just the ones that are there to play better. That is down to your coaching staff - thats the real problem <ok>

To be fair Taylor was comfortably our best player, still need cover at centre half as Williamson was and has been dreadful all season, not to mention a right back, centre forward and more squad players.

Squad still not big enough, mind you with Pardew in charge we could have Messi and he would be poor.

The problem is, when players have no reason to fear losing their place they become complacent. I think this may be a big part of the problem for us.

Our left back was a 19 year old local boy. He is only playing because Neil taylor is injured but he has stepped up to the challenge. If the "superstars" are complacent the answer is to shove them on the bench!

We need another fullback and centerback definitely. Another striker wouldn't go a miss.

How is Ben Arfa "AMAZAZING"?? He runs with the ball, but shouldn't every pro footballer be able to do that?!

Not one player on that pitch deserves the title of amazing

Agree we need better training ground work due to us being so predictable.

He's in the top 10 world goals of 2012.
Guess you missed Blackburn or Bolton.

Problem is, by January we could be comfortably mid table with no chance of Europe or relagation.meaning there wouldn't be much financial gain between finishing 8th or 15th. So I could see mike being tight. For a change.
Does that make sense? It does in my brain

http://thepremierleagueowl.com/alan...amstrung-by-financial-black-hole-at-newcastle

Without trying to sound smug, I did see this coming – and apologies for repeating what I wrote last weekend, but it’s now even more relevant.

Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias have spent the last year sounding desperately pleased with themselves, presumably over their belief that they’d stumbled across a formula for Premier League success that didn’t involve spendinga lot of money. Well boys, you haven’t – and there’s less and less to be self-congratulatory about with each passing week.

Scouting systems are great, and buying players at less than their market value is wonderful when it happens – but it’s a huge gamble, and nobody should be tricked into thinking that it’s a long-term solution. Signing players like Demba Ba and Yohan Cabaye was a masterstroke, but coups like that are rare and exceptions to the rule that unless you spend money, you will not be able to compete. Besides, how impressive is the scouting department at Newcastle? It’s continually referenced as being so very impressive, but look at some of the players who have joined smaller clubs over the pre-season – or just take Swansea as an example: Pablo Hernandez for £5m, Michu for £2m, Jonathan de Guzman on-loan. All of those players would have been an asset to Newcastle, and they have the size and stature to have competed for them.

Something at Newcastle doesn’t add up. Think about what’s taken, on average, at the gate at St James’ Park, factor in commercial revenue, and then add in the retrun from Andy Carroll’s sale – you’re left wondering why so little cash was available to Alan Pardew over the Summer. Additionally, given the lack of high-earners at the club, it’s not as if Ashley is dealing with a particularly high wage bill.

Where’s the money that could’ve funded moves for Luuk de Jong or Matthieu Debuchy? Where’s the cash that should’ve been used to purchase a bench of viable alternatives as cover for the first-team? Alan Pardew is a really capable manager, but he’s not a miracle worker, and if anyone thinks he dragging this side to 5th place again, with such little depth, then they’re sadly mistaken. It’s such a shame, because there are some really, really talented players in that side, but they can only contribute so much – the ranks needed swelling, it wasn’t done, and now the side are paying for it.

Sensible financial management, austerity measures, responsibility…yeah, yeah, stop with the rhetoric designed to bamboozle the fans, and give the manager what he needs to compete.

Not time to panic for me. We need a centre back badly who can play football. Saylor is injury prone, Colo is too. That much is obvious. I think we need a left back too but suspect it'll be a right back we sign. Thats fine because Santon is excellent both sides. After that maybe a Tom Ince to stop the over reliance on Benni. Other than that we're good, but I'd like to see Abeid involved as a creative midfielder and Campbell once fit for some energy. As I say we have to careful not to panic, we're a good side.

Sorry but what has that got to do with his performances this season?

Cisse scored goal of the season (or one of the) and a few other contenders...is he amazing?

I may be wrong, but I'm sure the lad's point was that he feels Ben Arfa is performing head and shoulders above the rest, and I don't agree. Nothing to do with his spectacular goals last season, which unfortunately mean nothing to us now.

He's probably our best player, he can take on a whole team and score with both feet.

He can create something out of nothing, and could probably go into any team.

Thus meaning he is amazing.
