I know when I was at Hearts last season I found the locals very unfriendly....However, there was no bother at that game. I'm quite sure that Syd has went up to Hibs, so I hope the old fellow is alright..
IMO the friendly the week before the start of the season shud be at the SoL against 1 of Europe's elite
I agree with you there. Most other teams seem to be doing it. This is shocking though if it's true. It's a friendly ffs.
I'm sure it will nothing like as bad as the trouble at a recent friendly match that took place at Darlington, where thousands of fans from a club who shall not be named invaded the pitch and attacked the locals...
I heard it all started when an elderly gentlemen starting fighting a dozen coppers to get his hands on a police dog.................
Hibs is in Leith, which is a tough old part of the world near the docks, so fisticuffs is not a major surprise if true.
My mate has just text me to say he is on his way back. Couldnt get into the ground and that its been kicking off at a few different places and some of the lads have told him there was a stabbing. To follow on from and earlier thread, I really dont know why we never have pre-season games at the SOL.
I think it's because of the gigs, like Kings of Leon. They're trying to give the pitch as much time as possible to get it healthy again. I'd imagine that hundreds of tons worth of equipment and 30,000 people trampling all over it a few times would cause some damage.
To go to a pre-season game and get stabbeb just take's the piss. We got smashed 5-1 off our fiercest rival's, we didn't go round knifing people.
My mate went up there and said he was shepherded by police into a mob of hibs fans. Looks like the police are a bunch of right ones up there from what he's said.
I was at the match - not much fun on the way back - it seemed like it was mainly the hibs fans who were up for a fight - police in strength with horses, vans and loads of cop vans - they must have expected trouble. And the lads have to go thro Newcastle on the way back as the connection to Durham has been cancelled - more trouble I'm sure Any way - barsdley great, brown superb, Larsen crosses real danger, gardner and vaughen look steady. Gyan missed an absolute sitter - otherwise a very pre season friendly.
i was there - it did seem to be kicking off all over the place. however i would stress it was very much the minority - as usual great atmos in edinburgh as the festival started today/ Lol Bart
