With the recent murmers of discontent comming from Enrique and Barton it seems the team are begining to have doubts about how far they can go with our beloved Newcastle.

At the end of the day its all about ambition. If the club is ambitious then players will want to be part of that. If they dont show ambition then whats the point? Players will want to move on.

I felt this way when we sold Carroll. I thought to myself, what is the point in spending all this money every year to never see my club be successfull....or at least try to be.

This is how the players are feeling after the Carroll sale - everything seemed fine before that with Jose and Joey ready to sign new contracts. Lack of ambition is what was evident when Andy walked away.

Speculation and media editing of the players 'quotes' will continue until simmer. The only way we will see our best players stay is if Ashley decides to invest in the club and show some ambition. Sadly i fear this will not happen, and i cant blame the players for wanting more.

100% agree.

If the club cannot or will not match the ambition of the players then the players are fully within their rights to seek a transfer to a club that can. The same works in reverse if the player is found to be below par.

Use the Carroll money to get additional quality signings into the squad and the current players will sign extensions.

The most frustrating thing is is that Newcastle has everything in place to be a great club. Not many clubs can match our fan base, stadium size and passion....Ashley just needs a little bit of vision and we can go far. Look what John Hall managed to do with just a little vision.

Not only will the players respond, so to will the fans with guaranteed sell outs at SJP plus all the local bars full to the rafters watching hooky TV!

Spot on mate. Dont for one minute begrudge Jose. If we dont do as Ashley has said they he will be well within his right to leave.

Aye it's really frustrating at the moment. There are so many possible outcomes this season that could affect who stays/goes. The Carroll sale has been more of a psychological kick in the teeth rather than a physical one. We've managed fine without him for over two months now so while we are notably short upfront, it's not because we sold carroll, it's because he got injured and exposed how thin our squad is.

Totally agree with the ambition thing though, I can't argue with selling Carroll for that much money but Cashley's true test comes in the summer. We really will see his true colours with regards to ambition/finance.

I've been saying it for years that the infrastructure is in place and has been for a while. We've got the stadium, the training ground and the support to ensure that any investment in the playing squad and youth set up will be rewarded as long as there is stability.

Whilst the playing squad lets us all down in the relegation season; there was no stability; there was turmoil on and off the pitch and that combined cost us our place.

If we can get that stability from the top down (Ashley supporting managers and the club) then we should in theory be laughing.

Here's hoping that the final piece of the jigsaw is in place.
