As you can see from the below, Italy's No1 goalkeeper is back, as Buffon replaces Sirigu. Barzagly has recovered from an ankle knock to start, as he did against England, but he will be partnered by Chiellini, who returns to the middle in place of the shaky Paletta. Costa Rica, meanwhile, field the same side that shocked Uruguay in their first match and manager Pinto is confident of being able to repeat that performance: "We are our confident of being able to repeat our performance," he said yesterday. Italy 1-Gianluigi Buffon; 7-Ignazio Abate, 4-Matteo Darmian, 15-Andrea Barzagli, 3-Giorgio Chiellini; 5-Thiago Motta, 16-Daniele De Rossi, 6-Antonio Candreva, 21-Andrea Pirlo, 8-Claudio Marchisio; 9-Mario Balotelli. Subs 2-Mattia De Sciglio, 10-Antonio Cassano, 11-Alessio Cerci, 12-Salvatore Sirigu, 13-Mattia Perin, 14-Alberto Aquilani, 17-Ciro Immobile, 18-Marco Parolo, 19-Leonardo Bonucci, 20-Gabriel Paletta, 22-Lorenzo Insigne, 23-Marco Verratti Costa Rica 1-Keylor Navas; 16-Cristian Gamboa, 3-Giancarlo Gonzalez, 4-Michael Umana, 7-Christian Bolanos, 6-Oscar Duarte, 17-Yeltsin Tejeda, 15-Junior Diaz; 5-Celso Borges, 10-Bryan Ruiz; 9-Joel Campbell Subs 2-Johnny Acosta, 8-Dave Myrie, 11-Michael Barrantes, 12-Waylon Francis, 13-Oscar Esteban Granados, 14-Randall Brenes, 18-Patrick Pemberton, 19-Roy Miller, 20-Diego Calvo, 21-Marco Urena, 22-Jose Miguel Cubero, 23-Daniel Cambronero So all of a sudden we have 11 Frankie Dettoris, Italians clasped dearly to England's bosom as if they were born of Blighty herself. The nation that was pleading for an italian defeat just six days ago is now pinning its scrawny hopes on an Italian victory: anything other than that outcome today will confirm England's elimination before the group stage has even ended. That, obviously, will be foremost in the minds of the managers of Italy and Costa Rica as they deliver rousing addresses to their players before they head out on to the pitch today. As an aside, Messrs Prandelli and Pinto may also mention that the futures of their own teams will also be shaped by this match, with a victory for either one leaving them well-placed to reach the last 16. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Good one 9'sey, the spray painted lass looks rather tasty.....do we know who the artist is? Anyway I digress, no idea whats happening as I've been following the cricket via beeb text.....but in a way i hope this is a draw and we are put out of our misery......
There was more uproar about that not given than there was for the England one. Still, they got their goal anyway! That's also one that might not have been given without GLT.
Drifting to 33-1 - perhaps Martini Rosso was a msitake. Let's try Bianco. And some Roman-style artichoke antipasto.
It's a pleasure to see a team play with real passion, commitment and energy, and a good degree of skill. Unfortunately it's Costa Rica not England. We'll done to Costa Rica, a pleasure to watch.
I'd imagine they'd make a quite a few changes and we beat them and people then try to make out the team weren't that bad. I'd like us to try and do what they did instead of going out and try not to get beat by a big margin instead of going for it.
