I am disappointed by this. I love the world cup more than any other football tournament and want all the big nations there. The Italian sides always bring something unique in my opinion, so this is a shame.

Not really bothered about international football nowadays. Even less bothered about this World Cup. I would have taken satisfaction if England didnt qualify for it.

I can appreciate that mate. I have misgivings about it too. I just have this massive love affair with the world cup that has always been there. I will probably end up still soaking up every minute of it despite the location, which probably doesnt say much about me I know.

I used to be the same, not any more. Cant even remember who won the last World Cup tbh. but I can still remember the magic of Pele and the Brazilian teams of 1958 and onwards, until the arrival of the well named Dunga . <ok>

You're not delighted that saint Harry Kane has decided profiteering off slave labour and subsequent deaths is a good opportunity to shine a light on slave labour and subsequent deaths?

I'm just looking forward to Fallujah 2026

probably 'watch it as it is on' rather than anything else although i hope i find something else to occupy my time.

it is these type of occasions that should make people wake the feck up and see what is really going on, when the supposedly entire world are calling out a country for its human rights offences yet choose that country for footballs (or any major sport) biggest competition, not only that but ignoring the reported deaths, the fact that football has not really taken off there, that is is far too hot for most teams, that it now involves winter breaks for some players so they can take part...basically massive disruption to the world footballing calendar you just know money has once again taken pride of place.

i think the worst part is that any work done to try to stop the problems has just been knocked back 20 years, they will simply feel all they need to do is throw money around and suddenly the world stops bothering them or they can just do as they wish as long as they keep others sweet.

Makes our defeat in the final harder to take imo.

The world cup has always been special for me, but these finals will just be a non event.

I view this event as nothing but a celebration of the corruption that FIFA became.

    I'll probably watch it though.

This world cup can just f*ck right off.

Corrupt money worshipping upthemself uncaring heartless tosspot utter w*nkers, all of them.

Wont be watching, almost certainly wont watch international football again, and very good chance in a few years I'll drift away from it all.

I think it is Brazil, and to a lesser extent Argentina that gave my live affair. I had never seen football like Brazil until watching the world cup in 82 and they remain my favourite all time team. I vaguely remember 78 and Kempes and ticker tape. This was just not football I could ignore, it was just beautiful. Socrates goal against Italy is mt favourite ever goal. Brazil always make me hope for beauty, but I agree about Dunga, that was anti Brazil.
