The only positive we can take from that was Steve Davies, seemed to be the closest to scoring for us, so I think for the Blackburn game a front 2 of baldock and Davies would be good <ok>

A reality check and I'm glad in a way. There were way too many people getting carried away after 2 home wins.

Anyone wanting to finish in the top 8 will get at least a point at Barnsley. Anyone wanting to finish in the top 2 will win there comfortably.

Not the end of the world and at least Barca lost again !

Lets all laugh at Rovers, lets all laugh at Rovers la la la la, la la la la

Sorry disagree, by that logic Southampton shouldn't of went up? They couldn't beat us and we were right at the bottom

    Just arrived back from Barnsley.

Could see who took the free kick that hit the bar, but it was a cracker just needed to be an couple of inches.
Also Woolie had a I think goal bound shot poss handled because he went mad.

Barnsley had 10 - 15 each side of half time where they caused us the damage, we played as far as I could see ok.
Worried about Albert even though he sat a few seats away from me second half. But he reminded me off when he was disappointed to miss out on the African Nations cup, hope he wasn't expecting to move away to find no one came in for him. He just wasn't at the races today.
I personally would of kept Baldock on and taken Pearson off earlier.

Plus Del went flying onto the pitch when their player got sent off, he was ****ing tamping.

But hey ho could be worse scores around us went ok so onwards and upwards.

The one thing I would add, last season we would of fell apart when we went a goal down, but we did still show some fight.

Skuse was good in midfield, Elliott came on for Adomah but unfortunetly spent a lot of time on the floor? Wilson became sort of midfielder come defender. They did sometimes catch us on the break.

Baldock was playing some nice flicks and running into space.

Heaton pulled of some cracking saves, don't know if anyone was at fault for the goal will have to wait for our usual 90 seconds on BBC.

Cunningham is on course to be player of the season, really impressive games this season.

I personally would not start Pearson next game. Maybe use Davies in that role.

Pretty ****ing disappointing - the MINIMUM requirement from today was a point. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to listen today and have only just got home so I don't know how much threat did we offer ROD...?

I am surprised we started Steady, only from the point of view that I thought we were going to play with 2 nippy strikers who can fisnish away from home. We should be deadly on the break so I expected Taylor/Davies to start with SB.

REALLY disappointed today, didn't expect to get turned over by the favourites for relegation who barely had a first 11 out.

    NEEDS SOME WORK....

My biggest dissapointment was not to see Taylor starting...was Addy injured or just totally lack lustre?

if the latter Derek needs to get hold of him, say now look here Addy IF YOU WANT TO PLAY IN THE PREM OR FOR YOUR COUNTRY you have to stand up brush yourself down, blow your nose, clean yer teeth get out the smile and then just go out there and PERFORM

If we lose against Blackburn (let's be fair it wouldn't be a shock) that would be 6 pts from 5 games.
That isn't much better than relegation form.
We MUST get something from what will be a tough next game.
Otherwise we will be under pressure again and the doubters will be back out in force.
It is worrying that Del doesn't seem to have an AWAY formula that works.
4-4-2 requires 2 hard workers in the middle = No creativity in the middle.
If our wide men don't get in the game we are ****ed.
Last season he got results by playing 3 in the middle and 1 up front.
However, having brought in so many strikers it is hard to see how he can justify
only playing 1 up front when he has made it clear he likes to play 2 men up.
Here's hoping he figures out the answer to this conundrum.....

I see your logic Shiny but to make sure we are comfortably safe come next May, and that we dont have to endure another season of relagation worries, we should be nicking the odd away point or 3 from the likes of Barnsley, as we're not likely to take anything much on our travels from a lot of other teams in this division.

If we can sustain a decent home form that will go a long way to confirming our survival, but getting the odd away point is also important to prove we can compete, and on paper this was one of the easier games we'll get this season.

So from the euphoria of two good home wins, we turn to other feelings. Some will resignedly say it's a much better start than the last three years. Others may become gloom and doom merchants.

However, the first two away games have proved how hard it is to get points even from sides who were considered as average before we played them. We did not play badly in either, but away from home we need to be much more clinical in finishing, especially when we are on top.

I do not expect or even want top six this season. We have to continue building the squad, improve attendances and above all, for all City fans and the club itself to start believing that we are a top half of the Championship rather than "we hope to stay up" which has become the reality of the last three years.

So I feel great sadness that we did not get points from Forest or Barnsley. Because the reality now is that excluding Peterboro' we are 3 points from the top and three from the bottom. A home win in two weeks against Blackburn will keep us above half way in the league. But failure to do that.........!

Past few seasons I have said pretty much the same things, usually based on where I think the final table will end up. And you are spot on Angelic...we need to take 3 points from any teams likely to finish in the bottom 8 at home( minimum of 18 pts) and at least 3 or 1 point from them away ( min 12 pts ) if we are to finish in the top 6/8 then are targets should be from the other 7 teams H & A at least 24 of the 42 points available.....the middle 8 teams 30pts = total 84 points

absolutely concur with this comment, based on our season appearing the most "smoothed out " fixture list to date in the champs ( easy hard easy hard etc ) Barnsley had to be rated as the easier of Cardiff Barnsley Blackburn. I think pre games a draw with Cardiff a draw with Barnsley and a draw with Blackburn would have minimistically been acceptable...hey in that vein a draw with Blackburn will be a bonus!

    Remember
if we win half our games and lose the other half we live to fight another day
if we draw half our losing games we are in with a shout
if we draw half our winning games we are out!!!!!!!!

I've just watched the video on I-Player.
It is sometimes difficult to judge a game on 15 minutes but we did not join in until Hassell was sent off. Looks like a poor performance all round. Simple goal conceded from inside our six yard box and some woeful finishing when they had 10 men.
Not a pen as Woolford just headed it against his arm which was down and just in front of defender. No way he could avoid it.
Is Barnsley's Mellis the new Marvin Elliott?
