Sunderland AFC News And Banter Page: from @JosephSpeckman Joseph Speckman twitter Graham will meet with MON on Tues prior to the game with Swansea. A deal is said to be done and we're only waiting on terms/medical #safc
Well I neither surprised or excited at all. Poor move on MoN behalf in my opinion and a massive gamble with everything he is trying to build here. If this doesn't work out and the b&w thing becomes an issue for what ever reason (bad derby game or a piss taking interview/picture) then the trust between manager and fans will soon go south with it? If he turns out to be another Lee Clark then my trust of O'Neill will cease to exist with it in an instance and that's a given.
Yep, I have to agree there like. Very mixed feelings, if true. I just can't get my head around it, unless Graham kind of says it was all in jest.....but it still sticks in my throat.
It's a big gamble matey and an unnecessary gamble. Decent player for the outlay and ofcourse as a club we have a budget, but also an accident waiting to happen. I feel other options are available and ought to have been followed. Only time will tell how it all pans out.
All magness aside, at £5m it represents excellent business, a finer first touch in the premiership is hard to find imo! As i said take away the magness and we would all be over the moon. I'm pleased coz i think he's a quality player
He's a good lad is speckman. Went to school with him. Red and white through and through. He works at sky sports too.
A waste of money and effort IMO. I can't see MON changing his tactics to playing 2 out and out strikers and can't see why Graham will come to sit on the bench. As I've said before, it might be a couple of months or a couple of years but I have a feeling this will turn sour like has happened so many times in the recent past with Newcastle supporting players. A disaster waiting to happen.
Agent Graham: please report to base as soon as infiltration is achieved, to receive further instructions.
I think he'll do fine, he obviously wants to come here so I don't understand why some people worry about his commitment Will be a good sigining imo, hope the fans give him a chance, would be beyond childish to focus on his roots...
i trust mon to do the right thing and i would rather have graham than bent come back, dont worry mon knows exzactly what hes doing.
I trust MON and think he is the best manager we have has in my lifetime (33 years). However, I think he is underestimating the recent history surrounding Clark/Chopra on this occasion. I could accept it more if it was a great player we were signing. Unfortunately Danny Graham is not a great player. He's an average at best player IMO
Exactly. Not only that, Danny Graham is slow... not enough pace for a counter attacking philosophy. Hence Graham will have to play further up the pitch than Fletcher, if MON plays 442, and I don't see how that will work very well...
If the roles were reversed I would not want the bloke at my club. There will be no apology for his words I suspect and sections of the crowd will never forgive him. There will always be NMG type suspicion that he will do a Chopra and miss key chances in derbies.
My concern about the negativity of this apparent "done deal" by quite a few of us is will MON just walk if we give DG abuse on the pitch?
Make no mistake, MON and Graham will both be fully aware of the mag aspect. (and the suspicion that goes with it). I just wish it was done and dusted one way or the other cos it`s starting to get on me tits now.
