It is all a matter of confidence

I don't usually start threads, but this time I feel I must. YES ....We are in dire straights, but our team IS better than our position in the league. Not a lot I will give you, but it is better. So we should not be relegated! ..... But to avoid that we need to stop losing matches and start winning a few.

So why can't we win matches?

1 We cannot keep 11 players on the pitch. WHY because everyone, especially the new guys are trying too hard/over hard to impress

2 We cannot score goals. WHY because the confidence has gone and they are again trying to hard ( and we cannot/ have not been able to muster two fit/not suspended strikers all season)

3 We give away easy goals (although yesterdays for Fulham was rather good) WHY because they panic and have no confidence in each other and again we have not decided who our two centre backs should be (lack of continuity again)

Now I know you are all going to shout and say Joey isn't trying hard, Zamora isn't trying hard. I actually dispute that...They are. They do not want to lose, in some cases they are trying too hard (I have seen evidence of that in Joeys play, he wants to do everything, he doesn't seem to trust anyone else)....IT IS CONFIDENCE

We on the board cannot do anything about that only Sparky can (and Lady Luck, certainly need that)
Keep the faith, support the team, don't slag them of for lack of effort.
Lets hope that luck changes, and it doesn't spiral (anymore) out of control

I suspect one lucky match (soon), where things go right, we score a few goals and then things may just turn for the better

Good post Beth but don't fool yourself thinking we are better than our position. we are where we deserve to be as every team in the league is.

 

I think your spot on Beth. SD was brought in as a holding midfielder to strengthen us so goes haring after everything trying to fulfil his role etc And as you've shown plenty of other examples.

 

Agree to an extent bob but we have had some shocking decisions. JB sending off, SWP goal disallowed, without those I'm confident we'd have extra points already!
