It hasn't taken long for the knockers to start knocking. What has happened to all the "I'll be happy with 17th place" posters at the start of the season? Anyone who thinks the Premier League is anything other than a maximum test for every team in every game is deluded. The worst thing from our perspective was the fact we performed so well against Newcastle and Wolves and in the 1st half against Villa, some even started talking of Europe next season FFS! The reality is we made several signings in the last week of the window adding to a squad that was threadbare and in no way Premier League quality, the other earlier signings were simply the best available as frees or cheapos. Injuries plus Traore's suspension contributed to the Fulham defeat, everyone said we needed to change the team and the formation and that resulted in yesterday's performance. We have 9 points from 8 games which is more than likely gonna be 9 points from 11 games and that will be followed by away games at Stoke and Norwich. The reality is our squad is not able to cope with injuries particularly at the back and up front. Warnock has stated this is where we will strengthen in January and I have no doubt Fernandes will spend to ensure we have every chance of staying up. There will be no excuses from February onwards but let's not start getting on the player's backs in the next month or so, they'll need all our support as we showed in adversity at Fulham where we were simply magnificent...
there was an interesting interview on 94.9 yesterday, when it was suggested that QPR fans are now expecting miracles after the purchases made before end of transfer deadline, and that some have forgotten where we were a year ago. On the guess the score competition, I put a 4-0 homewin down, completely writing off Blackburn, and, yet i still hope for top league footie next year. i guess I seem to be forgetting that we are now playing sides that have been in the premier league for some time, and that we ae still a work in progress. Because of my blue and white blood, I will always be expecting QPR to win every game 4-0....however I guess I just need to give credit to our opposition a bit more. I will settle for 17th positon right now...even if the cheque book is opened again in Jan. And we do need to get behind the players.........as we need to be the 12th man at fortress LR
It's going to be a hard season even if/when we get more players in. Must admit after we got in the new boys and won at Wolves i like most thought that we would do ok but just 4 weeks later i am back to my first thought which is that 'it's going to be tough'. We have some fans thinking we should beat seasoned Premiership teams each week and that is not going to happen. One thing i will stick by is that we do need to be taking points off teams like Blackburn at home because i cannot see us taking them off Utd and co. At the end of the day the season has just started and we have won at Everton Wolves and drawn with Villa and Newcastle, will others do the same?
Guys and gals, the best we can say is that Tony and Amit will give it a reasonable go come the Jan window. We like to support QPR with our hearts (4 nil home win, Europe etc) because we cannot cope with the harsh reality coming from our heads. Actually we need both passion and worldly wise guile to stay in this season. We all believe we have that in Warnock. We just need to see if the team can develop both of those in tandem over the next few months. COYRssss!!!!!!
I am a 8th position man lads but if you were there then you shod be able to sense the lack of the old QPR I am no knocker I love QPR as we all do maybe it's part of our story and I can only hope we come good so we finish 8th
The answer is not just buy players ... It's getting our soul back ASAP and working out what's eating it ... That's my worry fir the first time
I have always been focussed on 17th and still have to believe we will get it. I can't believe Swansea and Norwich will keep current form going all year and there are at least 3 or 4 others who may do us favours. Would, of course be nice not to have to rely on them, but Warnock has been set up for a relegation battle from day one and this is a self fulfilling prophecy - the more you say "we will get whipped sometimes" the more likely it is to happen. Tony and Amit are our greatest strengths and I am sure that when we stay up they will have proper plans for the way forward.
im of the opinion there must be 3 teams worse than us, keep believing any new signings will be players not good enough for there current teams, we need the fighting spirit more than ever now,
I think we have to be realistic and build in bad news over the next five games. If we get three points from all of them, I'll be pleased. Then we get a shot at West Brom at home before the Liverpool and ManU matches! We have to face it, we'll probably be in the bottom three by Christmas. But that's alright - NW will get funds - if he spends it well, particularly on central defence and up front, we could make headway in the New Year. We just don't want to leave the 2012 revival too late because three of our last four away games are Man U, Chelsea, and Man City
Are you nit-picking, twins?!! I said 3 points from all , not 3 points from each! 3 points in aggregate. Better?
he's already spoken to tf about jan signings but thats way off, like yo said goldhawk being realistic about picking points up over next few games is going to be very hard, if we lose next three & then beat stoke & norwich that will do for me, be happy with 17th place.
Although we're playing poorly at the moment and feel under seige in the face of the upcoming games we should not assume we'll get no points from our encounters with the top teams. I'm not saying we will get anything from those games but on the evidence of what happened last season it should not be ruled out. Last season, although invincible at home, Man U dropped quite a few points away including defeat at Molineux( wewon 3-0!) and draws at Villa, Birmingham, Blackburn, Bolton, Fulham, Everton, Newcastle and Sunderland. Wolves also beat Man C and Tottenham were beaten by Blackpool and Bolton. We may well get tonked in the coming games but the big teams will drop points over the season and statistically we have a good chance of taking something from those games. After all they're not going to be taking us too seriously after the recent performances, are they??!!
You're right, we can never rule out an upset, but certain of our players need to step up to the plate, Betty and Adel among them.
On the basis(I hope) that a few Jan signings can boost our points total for the last 15 games of the season, surely there are teams who are in a worse state. Wolves look shocking at the mo, and even though Blackburn did OK against us, they are a club in turmoil at the mo so I would be very surprised if they climb the table. So that's two teams! One more implosion a la Blackpool and we'll be safe!
We will always raise our game against the big boys, I reckon we can get a "few" points from the next 3 games Positive vibes
That's it jon; can't you see the clouds lifting already? No? Give it time, they will. After the Chelsea game we won't feel half as bad as we do now.
