If Derek is too get the Spanish archer then it has to be this week as delaying can serve no purpose as I see it. The reasons why are as follows, we have some hugh 6 pointers coming up against fellow strugglers in Dec, should we lose even 50% of these we will be so far from safety that no manager worth their salt would consider coming to us, on the flip side we take a large points haul, everything will be forgotten and the board will feel they were vindicated in sticking with Del Boy, that is until Jan when the reality re-surfaces and we fail to beat any of the average to decent sides, and we plummet back to the bottom 3, and again no manager worth his salt would come to a struggling club with the transfer window closed and no ability to mould a team as they would like. The only possible reason I can fathom why the board are dragging their heels, is that the options out there are probably not much better, Paul Jewell - No thanks Billy Davies - Proven at this level, but wants hugh funds to achieve anything and I cannot see him getting it. Di Canio - Unproven and why would he move Forget Hoddle or Curbs as they have been touted for every vacant Champ post for well over 2 years now and have never been appointed, you have to ask why???
Micky Mellon is available if we want an old player to come back. John Ward is available I think Steve Kean Alex Mcleish ..yes the pickings are very thin right now.
Not really convinced that we will be changing managers soon. If Del was to play his own players with a bit of the youth set up I can see things changing. -------------------Heaton------------------- Foster-------Bates-------D.Wilson----Bryan Adomah-----Reid--------Danns------Anderson ----------------Davies----Baldock------------- One player from the former regime Adomah! This would also send a message out to the others at the club to either pick up or **** off. I know some will pick holes in this team but at least he will judged on his team not GJ and KM! Also I doubt he would come here, but we won't get anywhere near the likes of Lambert McDermott Adkins So we will be looking at the likes of the others mentioned, given a choice I would take a chance on Di Canio
Getting back to the Spanish Archer reference I think we have shot our bolt in being able to attract a decent manager to take care of our flock. I wonder if there any, even one, player who gives a hoot as to who is their boss because surely their tweeting ratio and new vehicle are way to important to let playing football interfere with their selfish overpaid daily lives. Just who do you think you are supcon to think you have the righ to demand that these morons actually play in such a manner that they may earn your respect? Get a life man, life has changed to such a point that the game is at the bottom of these plonkers priority list and the results column only goes to prove that fact. Coppell probably saw the writing on the dressing room wall during his short stay and decided that either the inmates were running the asylum or the owners lack of dedication to success were negative factors that he did not want to handle - wise man methinks! The system needs to change from the top down and until that happens City will continue on the same old path to nowhere.
Sorry Inver, as you say who am I to demand such effort....LOL That said, like yourself I am now a self imposed exile and am looking from afar (Australia, as emigrated 2 months ago) I can no longer argue the I pay theirwages argument
I just feel sorry for the folks that put down their hard earned money to watch such dross week in and week out. I see absolutely no sustained effort on behalf of our owner to change the mix and get us back to some kind of order and regrettably that has been the case for far too long. When will someone in authority get the message that the current situation is not acceptable and the directive to do that can only come from one person and until that happens we will continue our downward trend. A sorry state of affairs that will probably continue if our history is any kind of barometer.
If it does happen and the board replace the manager. Who's to say it will be different? I suspect we will still have Fontaine in the team along with Kilkenny Pearson and Elliott. Seems to me that we need someone with some bollocks to sweep this club out and start again. Ain't that what Del is doing with the behind the scenes stuff. He needs help as well, so maybe a new coach to guide him and turn him into a better manager ? Maybe I know I'm keen on it some ain't but a DOF who will help him? I don't know but with the same dross here will a new manager sort it. This is why I'm not voting because there is no definitive answer for me on this!
Good team selection; DMc should be forced to play this eleven next Saturday against Wednesday. at leat we would all then have some clearere idea on where the problem really lies at City. Old guard players or DMc/Doc!
In some ways Invermere Mike and supcon, I really envy you living as far away as you do. For me it's a constant tug of war with my heart and my bank balance as I can get to Ashton Gate in about 10 hours door to door. It costs me a bomb what with air, train, coach fares but also the cost of B&B while I'm there cos no-one in the family have any spare rooms for me to stay in. I've seen three home games - 2 wins and 1 draw and my next planned trip is in April. That is unless the heart wins in Jan, Feb or March.
Yes I can so how about a whip round for the air fares chaps? And anyone got a spare bedroom? Oh and most important, who is going to tell my wife that I'll be away for a couple of days each week because I'm too much of a coward to tell her she will have to clean the fires and bring in wood every day, walk the dog every day and do her own cooking. It's the last one which would kill her! She even burns the toast for poached egg on toast.
Hey mate, If Del is still in charge by the next time you come over, we will be all looking forward to playing the likes of Crawley & Crewe next season...lol
