Are we all agreed that the paint trophy is a waste of time ?
It might be an 'easier' route to a 'final' - but I can't believe that the crowd numbers in the interim rounds are sufficient to cover running costs.
Saturday's attendance a 4 year low ( for a Saturday league game ) - despite being at the top end. All I can see is that these meaningless games present an opportunity for needless injuries and bookings which will impact on league matches. - It's not as if there is ANY prospect of a glamour tie.
I haven't done any research to see if we could 'opt out' - not a bad idea as far as I'm concerned.

No chance of a glory tie. I thought winning against Crawley was the equivalent of winning the world cup? Or was that only when the glorious hole that is Steve Evans is in charge of the club?

We will get our chance to retain the world cup Gemini when we face Rotherham, it's a two legged affair. Could get tasty between Evans and Allen!

I think we should use it as arsenal use the carling/capital one/whatever the hell it's called cup and use it as an ppertinity to give youngsters as fringe players a chance for some proper competitive football rather than closed door friendliest etc

There is something in the rules about having to play a large number ( 7 I think it is) of players who started the last game or will start the next league game or you face something like a 5k fine. Also there is no option to opt out.

Like everything in lower league football, no one listens to the fans anymore, so the clubs will be hit in the pocket, where it hurts.
