(To the tune: It Came Upon a Midnight Clear) It came upon a day in June Our new boss followed our old, For those who wondered at his worth He was soon to prove he was gold, Peace at the club now reigned again We´d found yet one more king, ´Chris Hughton is the only one´ Is what all our fans sing From near and far afield they come To watch his strengths unfurl, As his disciples on the pitch Have all of us in a whirl, No longer sad and no more pain We fly high on the wing, And whether home or away, the sound Of the Yellow Army will ring Some wondered if maybe the load Would help to make him grow, And sure enough from day to day We´ve seen our football flow, And many glad and golden hours We hope that he will bring, And rest assured on this long road While he does, all our fans will sing So as this season hastens on If I may be so bold, I would say we´ve prospered from the deal Bringing in the new lamps for old, But we will see when May is done Which song our fans will sing, Though I have no doubt that it will be ´Chris Hughton is still our king`.
I feel that it does seem to sit better with the compound time signature, than the more traditional one RBF Just out of interest, which one did you have in mind when you wrote it? Yes, I have been humming them both
Maestro - well being a bit of a traditionalist myself, it was the traditional one I had in mind, in fact I wasn´t aware of the other version, until I found, and heard it a few minutes ago, but fortunately they both work.
