Zola's odds have suddenly been slashed to 3-1 with skybet. Laudrup who was around 1-20 is now only 2-9. What's suddenly happened for the odds to change so drastically? If Laudrup is the certainty that most people seems to think he is, then 2-9 are very generous odds indeed. This is one to watch very closely. Is it a coincidence that the Spurs job has just become available. But Laudrup is only 25-1 for that, so probably not anything to do with this.
Gotta be something in that! well well well! http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/swansea-specials/next-permanent-manager
Well, so far this has happened with about 6 different managers. I suppose the bookies are still the best way of judging the future though, right?
No, I wouldn't say that. But they can be a guide to what's going on behind the scenes. This might just mean that Laudrup's appointment has hit a last minute hitch and that Zola has met Huw. Or it cold mean nothing at all. Odds are just a way of seeing things before they hit the press. Not always right, but there's no smoke without fire. Of course, skybet still have Laudrup as hot favorite, but not as hot as yesterday. Bookies don't give money away, so if this was a done deal, why would they offer such generous odds. Difficult to tell.
Well, I'd say there's been ****loads of smoke without any fire! Have you seen some of the names that came in from long odds? I'm not saying you can't use the bookies to predict what's happening, but the betting merry-go-round that's happened in the last week is surely proof that the bookies are no wiser than the fans a lot of the time!
Yes, there's been a lot of smoke and not so much fire in the last couple of weeks. But regarding Laudrup it seems that almost everyone was certain it was a done deal - fans, bookies, press are all talking as if he's already the manager. But with Laudrup now at 1-3, something must have happened. If Laudrup is a done deal, then you could make very easy money by taking those odds. If skybet are offering 1-3 there must be a reason. I can see why they would shorten odds on someone who wasn't likely to get the job because it generates business and they make money. But I can't see why they'd offer 1-3 on a done deal. If it's a done deal, why isn't everyone putting their money down? But's he's still favorite. So it's a case of wait and see. Huw said he was hoping to announce the new manager tomorrow, so not long to wait.
Just a wild eyed thought that is total rubbish, could Zola be earmarked as No.2 to Laudrup. As I said Probably nonsense ............................ but stranger things have happened ........ just ask Dai?
Would he be happy as No. 2. I think he'd rather be No. 1 somewhere. But as you say, stranger things have happened.
And Huw said... "There are always things to consider and that will be the case for us right up until the last minute. Nothing is concluded until it is concluded. Until everything is ironed out and finalised, these things are never over the line." Interesting.
Laudrup now 1-9, so let's forget about Zola. Looks like Laudrup after all. Not sure what that was all about though.
Bookies move prices on these markets all the time to stir up interest amongst punters. The way to test the waters is to march into a betting shop and demand a hefty wedge (say £500) on Laudrup at 1/3. I'd almost guarantee Skybet would poop their pants and limit you to a tenner. Their only motivation is to get some more mugs to back a no hoper (Zola) before the market closes.
Yes, you're probably right. Just because they offer 1-3 doesn't mean they'll accept a large bet on it. I wonder if their rules cover how much you are allowed to place on advertised odds. But like you say, it's probably a tenner.
