Seven unsuccessful years would make any manager questions "why stay" Wenger loves the team and the city but he knows things aren't working no matter what he tries I think he wanted to go out on top (winning the Champions League) and he doesn't want to end his legacy on such a low note. Pride and his huge salary I would imagine. I also think he truly is blind to the issues and believes he is actually right.
