PL relegation. Managerial sackings. Foreign owners with high ambition but (probably) limited understanding of football. £60m spent in the summer on relatively (for the Championship) high profile players. 'Losing mentality' - quote from today's media. No away win for a year. Unsettled fans. Sounds familiar? I do wonder whether they are good for a cheeky fiver for the double drop. What do you all think?
I'd love it but doubt it. They'll probably bring in a half decent manager, Bruce maybe, and end up top 6.
Living in Warwickshire I get to meet a lot of Villa 'fans'. They are the definition of fickle, as shown by the pathetic attendances at Villa Park even when they were doing not too badly in the PL. Birmingham City fans are none too bright on average but they are proper fans.
Most definitely. I have no pity for them. The times we got relegated we played at Villa late on and needed a result. We never got the result and both times I was there I found their fans arrogant tw*ts. They always survived at our expense. I hope they drop again.
............ and we'll still be wallowing in the mire. Yes, the semblance with QPR is non existent. QPR had players that gave the word, Mercenary its real meaning. We had a manager ( in Harold ) that would of bung his own mother if he thought he could make a buck. We had Front page news stories bigger than the Karadashians. We had Book releases from players and manager being spat out like old chewing tobacco. We had season draining racial debates with a player who only made it to PL status cause his brother did ........... and mom drove them! We had a player in SWP that could spend the whole game fighting off anyone, who dared to consider scoring a goal. We even have players, who are seemingly permanently injured yet ............. that can score own goals! We had players who, having only just been relegated, laughing so hard as they walked off the pitch, medics had to perform an on-the-spot blood vessel check. No my friends, Villa are kidding themselves if they consider themselves, equal to us. For we are, QPR.
I too had the Costanza moment. I actually wrote it but I didn't want to say that so l deleted it before l posted.
A great line, and the gun incident in the QPR offices in 2005 draws us still closer to the Kardashians. The only difference is that unlike Kim, Paladini's rear-end can pass freely through an average sized door.
We had Front page news stories bigger than the Karadashians. Call me a cynic but wasn't that just a publicity stunt?!
Yes, even though their fakes! Lest when we pull a stunt, were thorough. Harry's dicky knees are for real ..... aren't they? JFH has our best interest at heart ..... doesn't he?
Their expenditure in the summer was completely out of hand and far worse than we did when we were in the Prem. I am quite enjoying seeing them suffer.
Hello SB73 - have just moved to Warwickshire myself. Need somebody to tell me how to change my member name from Bexhill Hoop to Shakespeare Hoop. Let me know if you fancy a pint of Purity sometime. RE Villa/Blues fans - totally agree - Villa are deluded & need to go through what us/Man City/Sheff Wed etc went through before they can rebuild their club. Think Bruce may do a decent job for them though if he goes for it.
Perhaps Villa will get lucky and secure Steve Bruce as their manager? Quiz - Who is in the picture below with Robbie Savage? Steve Bruce: Aston Villa should appoint ex-Birmingham boss - Robbie Savage please log in to view this image Steve Bruce left Birmingham in November 2007 to become Wigan manager Former Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce is the "right man" to manage Aston Villa, according to former Blues midfielder Robbie Savage. Bruce, without a club since leaving Hull in July, is favourite to replace Roberto di Matteo, who was sacked by the Championship club on Monday. Savage said Bruce has experience in the division and still lives in the area. "He took Birmingham up, he took Hull up," said the Welshman. "He won't have to travel, he won't have to uproot." Blues were relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2005-06 season. But Bruce, who had been in charge of Blues since 2001, led them back to the top flight the following season - and also went on to win promotion to the Premier League with Hull twice too. please log in to view this image Robbie Savage made 88 appearances for Blues between 2002 and 2005 Savage played under Bruce at St Andrew's and thinks Villa fans will not worry too much that Bruce used to manage their city rivals. He also says Bruce's ability to get the best out of the Birmingham players whenever they played Villa will count for a lot. "When we were in the Premier League, we absolutely battered them time after time," said Savage. "I think Villa fans will remember that. "They had better players than us but we had this team spirit, this togetherness and we battered them more times than not in massive pressure games." Villa have appointed a former Birmingham boss as manager in the past - and the outcome was not good. Alex McLeish lasted just 11 months before he was sacked in May 2012. During his reign, the Scot was often targeted by Villa supporters angry that the club had who appointed a former Blues manager as their boss. Former England defender Danny Mills told the Monday Night Club on BBC Radio 5 live that Villa had to get the "best man for the job" and thinks Bruce could be a good option despite his association with Birmingham. "I don't understand this fixation that he was Birmingham manager, so he can't do a good job for Aston Villa," Mills said. "It makes no sense. Surely if he goes there and does a good job, fans have got to come around to that way of thinking. It's not like he was born and bred at Birmingham, played there his whole life. He's managed other clubs." http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/37546556
It's a **** life in football but I can see Villa being top six this season But I would love for them to fold just to make us look marginally better as we recover ... If we do
