or has he just got lots of spare time on his hands Tony Fernandes keen to take charge of FAM By Bernama - 11 October 2016 @ 7:52 PM SEPANG: AirAsia Group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes may have openly declared his intention to occupy the post of Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president after confessing he was very committed to Malaysian football. “Without doubt, I will be involved in football in some way or form. I have been watching Malaysian football since I was five years old at Merdeka Cup tournaments. And if I can help, of course I will help. “It’s really up to the association (FAM) on how they want me to help,” he told reporters at an AirAsia appreciation ceremony to all the winners of medals at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, last month. Tony said he was a big fan of football and would use his past experience with English Premier League club Queens Park Rangers to develop national football. “I love football..it’s a long time to go and let’s see if the people want me and let see if I can contribute... It does not have to be (as) FAM President. “There are many other roles, but if I am asked to help Malaysian football, I will,” he added. The number one post in FAM would be vacated by Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah since he would not be defending the post at the new FAM election which is expected to take place by the middle of next year. Earlier, AirAsia presented free flights to the winners at the Paralympic Games in a ceremony at the Asian Aviation Centre of Excellence here, today. “Once again Asean athletes have made the region proud by showing that we can be great challengers at the global level,” said Tony. Three national gold medal winners, Mohamad Ridzuan Mohamad Puzi in the T36 100-metre (cerebral palsy), Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli, F20 shot put (learning disability) and Abdul Latif Romly T20 long jump event (learning disability) were among the gold medal winners in South East Asia and would fly free for life. The country’s sole bronze medal winner, Siti Noor Radiah in the T20 women’s long jump (learning disability) on her part, received free flights for three years. All the 12 gold medal winners, seven silver medal winners and 12 bronze medal winners from South East Asia received free flights from AirAsia. Other than Malaysia, also receiving rewards from Air Asia were Paralympic athletes from Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam. The medal winners were also given the AirAsia gold, silver and bronze special edition BIG card to enable them to fly to more than 120 destinations in the AirAsia and AirAsia X flights network including in Asia, Australia, Middle East and Africa. Also present was AirAsia Berhad chief executive officer Aireen Omar.--BERNAMA 739 reads please log in to view this image National Paralympian Ziyad Zolkefli, Ridzuan Mohamad Puzi, Abdul Latif Romly, Siti Noor Radiah and AirAsia Group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes take a wefie during a ceremony to present life time free flight pass to the athletes. Well, he does have a wealth of experience from his dealings with QPR. A more experienced counterpart from Malaysia you may not find. Can't see him wondering off too soon. He's just looking to spread the love .................... and our supporter base.
****wit noun vulgar slang noun: ****wit; plural noun: ****wits a stupid or contemptible person (often used as a general term of abuse). Can we move him from the backseat to the boot? preferable bound and gagged?
I like Tony. He has made mistakes but he seems generally well intentioned. I don't really get the personal abuse.
I'm sure he's a nice chap, but he came to us as a saviour, he showed us the road to the promised land and pledged that he would hold our hands on the way to the broad, sunlit uplands of permanent success. And he has taken down the road to perdition instead. He's quite difficult to take seriously nowadays.
One day we will reach the top of the hill where you can see the start of the road to the promised land in the hazy distance.......
Trouble with the top of the hill is Tony sold the safety barriers and had the path iced for his newly acquired premier league curling outfit. Bastard
Funny you say yellow bricks as we already have the magician pulling the wool over people eyes at the end.
He will be sat in the family stand surrounded by oompa lumpas handing out sweets The kids will love him
Agree, the book clipping that Nines posted about Barton telling Redknapp that nobody liked him was to me a major concern that TF should off heard about. Every club, business etc needs a set of eyes & ears floating around to get the general feeling of the place. Seems to me that TF was being kept in the dark..... which is a worry. We the fans could see it / sense it by the way the team was playing.
