Did Arsene actually condemn diving cheats and say that they should be banned for 3 matches?

I'll post it in a few moments.

The journalists on the Sunday Supplement say that he actually said it.

    Player dives...shock....manager defends him....horror....

FFS....diving has ALWAYS happened in my lifetime (started being interested in football in mid 70's as a 7/8 yr old)...there just weren't that many camera's at that many games to catch it.

If football wants to rid the game of diving then give them a retrospective 3 match ban...but unless a player goes down no foul is given...ie you are not rewarded for being honest and staying on your feet...look at the chelsea player yesterday...but you are rewarded if you fling yourself to the ground by being given a free kick or a penalty.

To be honest Bale got 2 outrageous yellow cards last week for diving...neither was a dive but in all honesty he only has himself to blame as he has dived in other matches...maybe he'll stay on his feet now.

Carzola (excuse spelling) will lose out as he'll not get the benefit of the doubt in future (like suarez...he's been denied 3 or 4 nailed on penalties because of his diving)

I was watching the sky sports.

My point was that some people can be sanctimonious about these things in public when in fact they sanction it in private and when their players dive to cheat a win. I presume in his predicament he is quite willing to come don from his high horse...<ok>

Good point. All teams have divers. Carzola's was really blatant cheating. You have to feel for WBA who really should have had a draw. The other pen was also a foul for them a few seconds before. Are we saying that the ref was in arsenal's pocket?

I've never seen Wenger 'don' a high horse. But to be fair he said straight after the game that 'we got lucky' and that he would be having a word with Cazorla about it.

So I'm still not really sure what your point is ?

Santi dive yesterday yes but your post is an example of why this is such a hard thing to fix. You could not wait to criticise yet support Manchester. Young dived a lot, and Rooney even said he doesnt like divers but is a diver himself. You can not throw stones.

Instead of making it about clubs and attacking something broader needs to be done with the club rivalry removed.

That was my point. It is fine to take the moral high ground until one of your players blatantly cheats. <ok>
It was a desperately needed win by arsenal but should you really do this by cheating?

If Arsene did advise a 3 match ban, will he himself do what he preaches? <ok>

Manchester United fans should be silent when it comes to discussions on diving.

    Your point has failed though.

Wenger wasn't taking the moral high ground, nor was he donning any horse suit.

He said that 'we got lucky' intimating that it wasn't a penalty, he then said that he would speak to Cazorla about it.

This wumming isn't going very well is it Christiansmith ?

    Haha<laugh>

I know that young have been widely condemned for diving in the past <ok> many arsenal fans could not wait to condemn him. Wenger has put his oar in too. His players dive and cheat too <ok>

I hope he now shuts up about United players diving because his players do it too and they get more than their fair share of dodgy decisions...<ok>

But this messes up your line of attack. It is a bit pointless now.
