Just downloaded Kodi and and installed the Beast add on to it on my steam driven Mac. As a test before spending an enormous £50 on a dodgy box to hook up to the telly. It was a bit of a tricky set up process, but I now seem to be able to get sport from everywhere, including Sky and BT and films still in the cinema free, gratis and for nothing. Minimal/no buffering, high quality. And no pop up ads. I'm assuming that this is illegal in some way. What's the catch?
"If it's too good to be true...." Probably downloading all the sensitive data on your machine to a Ukrainian server as we speak!
A mate told me about Kodi last week. He got a box from Amazon and he simply connects it to his TV with an HDMI cable and it gives him streams of BT Sport and everything else via the wifi. He reckons it's going through the courts now so at some point they probably won't be available. I'm ordering one this week.
Yep it was a mate of mine who was urging me to get it, I saw you could also download to Mac for nothing so I thought I'd test it out first. It really is outstanding. Just been playing and watched a bit of the Revenant. And Greek football. Box is on order now. I think it's the box which is the dodgy bit, Kodi which is a free/open source developer is trying to take them out.
Oh no. I have found the entire Sopranos on this thing. I have never watched it, missed it first time round and was saving viewing the whole thing for retirement. but have always known that I would love it. Just watched the first ten minutes of the first episode and am addicted. I may be gone for some time.
I missed it first time around and only watched it all last year via Sky box sets. It is absolutely fantastic.
I'm glad this has popped up. I recall having a bit of a rant on here last year about how much I pay for Sky Sports and how they put the price of their package up whilst showing less. Someone posted something about getting an android box or something that gets everything which sounded too good to be true. I subsequently forgot about it until I went to Ireland last October. I was at my cousin's house and he had one which had everything on it. My procrastination has stopped me from getting one or the download equivalent. I fear that it's the technophobe in me that has prevented me from doing so. Just off to see if I can find the thread and who posted about it. Back in a mo.
Here it is ... http://www.not606.com/threads/bt-sport-europe-sky-sports.303260/ It was Steelmonkey who posted about it. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00...s=xbmc box&dpPl=1&dpID=419+f0vIEqL&ref=plSrch Anyone know if it's still worth getting or if there is a better one available now? If so I can bin bloody Sky.
This is the one I've ordered. Mr Foxes swears by it. Should arrive by the weekend, I'll let you know how it goes. Brilliant on the Mac. And if it's crap it's only £50 for the telly version. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01879W9XQ?redirect=true&ref_=pe_1958571_99116871_em_1p_0_ti
Mmmmmmm sounds good, mixed reviews on amazon but for £38 worth a punt even for someone who is a touch clueless on this sort of thing?
Apparently there is a newer version, same price JUSTOP ® T9 Android TV Box 5.1 Lollipop KODI Fully Loaded TV Box Amlogic S905 64-Bit 2.0GHz x4 Quad Core H.265 HEVC 4K Ultra HD HDMI Out WI-FI
If you can download it to the computer why do you need a box for the tv Can't you just use a HDMI cable to connect the two
Good point. Unfortunately not with a Mac, especially when it's in a different room, but you could load on to an old lap top and use it as a server. Which is all the box is. Give it a go. But give yourself a few hours to set up, a bit fiddly, which is the advantage of the preloaded box.
I will let you all buy one then wait to see if it is too good to be true being a lasy git if the box is all it seems too you I will probably go that way
