This is a serious football question. I know it might wind up the neighbours but it seems that with the scousers in civil war on their board we could have a (hopefully) entertaining discussion our friendly mods permitting of course .

To reduce the risk of the thread being closed down from sabotage, I am only asking the views of United and other non- scouser fans (and I do not want their civil war being waged here either). I also do not want any diversion from the main topic. And no one word contributions please.

My view is that it is more than a just run of bad luck. They have the worst strike force I can remember for ages (their missing good chances show that) . Their midfield is also very lightweight as they perform only in bursts, led by Gerard - which explains why they do better in cups.

Only my opinion of course but they are 38 points behind us and I cannot recall them being so far from the leaders and so near to the bottom of the league at this stage of the premiership.

Are there any lessons we and other teams can learn from their current "performance"?

I knew you couldn't resist the temptation.

Ok. So do YOU think this is not the worst side you have had since the premiership was formed? I haven't looked at the record books but I cannot remember you ever 38 points adrift.

They love a nibble don't they?

Yes I think it is <ok>. They will argue it has won the Milk Cup though.

Yes they may have won the Carling but THAT cup does not indicate strength. Birmingham City proved that the season before . I am not sure but have the scousers ever finished in the bottom half? I think they are at risk this season.

No doubt. But is this their worst side ever in the premiership? I think they have had some poor sides in the past too.

They still have some good players but also a lot of very average players. The manager seems to be tactically clueless and has once again shown that he doesn't deal with pressure very well.

I think the way Carroll reacted and swore when he was subbed indicated that the players are not united. Dalglish said in a interview today that he has never fined a player. May be players are not afraid to disobey him on and off the pitch?

But he also swore at his manager. Would any player at United swear at Fergie?

They would be out of the door if that happened.

I mostly blame the tactics. I don't think the players available are being used in the best way possible in specific matches.

For example, against Newcastle they allowed Ba and Cisse to receive the service from the midfield. They should packed the midfield. I think they underestimated Newcastle Like they have done in many of their games.

I think its the manager. If Fergie was managing that team they would have far more points. How many times can you say we dominated the game, hit the post and lost?

I am sure. What amazes me is how they view these misses. Yes they may be seen as the team is "dominating" but surely that is also a sign that the strikeforce is rubbish. I am sure that SAF would have urgently rectified the situation.
