In his latest press conference, Rodgers said: " The club finished eighth last season. If we can improve on that if would be fantastic for us. That is the reality of where Liverpool is I'm afraid," Is this the scousers at last coming to their senses and facing up to the harsh truth? Is it time that instead of worrying about the top clubs they focus on their "peers": Wigan, Norwich, Sunderland, West Ham. I cannot remember the last time a scousers manager said that finishing 7th (SEVENTH) would be fantastic.
I think it's a realistic and unbiased target for Liverpool. At the moment they are looking like a mid table team and not top half mid table team at that, if it wasn't for Suarez they'd probably be in a relegation battle. Any improvement on last year would be great for them considering its a new system and an even weaker squad. I doubt their fans are happy with the statement but they have a history of being deluded when it comes to how good they are.
True A few weeks back, some of their deluded fans were dismissing Spurs and newcastle as being not worthy of their attention. "we are more worried about the top clubs" they said. Rodgers is trying to manage expectations. But with the 4th highest wage bill in the premiership, this could be difficult. It is the previous muppet manager's fault but fighting relegation will come as a nasty surprise if they are not ready for it....
Rodgers is dumbing down their expectations. He's arrived with an iffy CV & a briefcase full of the post it notes that Mourinho threw away. He's in way over his head, hence his spin & waffle about his 'system' which is so complicated it apparently requires a 180 page dossier to explain it. When in reality it's a 4-3-3 lacking in any real penetration, which has a high back line that's vunerable to the counter. He's full of wind & piss imo & eventually he'll be found out, not all reds are like some of the clowns you get on the net & they're starting to sniff out a bullshitter.
I think Tikitaka Rodgers has been promoted well above his competence level. Do people sense some likeness between that muppet BBC DG who just had to resign and tikitaka? both seem to be really outside their comfort zone and I think Tikitaka will be found out soon. How long can their miserable club languish in 13th position while at the same time having one of the highest wage bills?
I don't think they'll finish that low in fairness, as he'll buy the striker he should have bought in the summer (instead of Borini), in January & they'll do better second half of the season. They'll be somewhere between 6th & 10th imo.
Many years ago Liverpool were a great team, now they are just a team, until the fans understand that, they are deluded. And remember UTD are in decline, top of the league, qualified for the last 16 of the CL but still in decline.
Fair play Boots., but don't get on the bad side of old Smithy lad or he'll be on your back in no time.
I think they will be hovering above the relegation zone. The problem I see with them is that they only have Suarez who can put it in the net. If he gets suspended or injured or loses form they are stuffed. new strikers may take time to adapt and to adjust.
I have been wondering who the scousers fans blame for having such a weak squad and such low expectations. It is one thing saying we are having to change everything therefore we cannot challenge for the title this season quite another saying that realistically we are aiming for seventh as a fantastic acheivement. Have the fans come round to admitting that the man (their buffoon ex-manager) who they thought was their hero was the one who put tem in such a dreadful position? How can a club who has been one of the top three spenders in the last three years have such a poor and weak squad?
To be honest I think we all understand the reality of our position. I'm sure it's more fun for you to think otherwise, but the 'delusion' is often more of a lazy stereotype than anything else.
Thankfully I know that it doesn't, as if you were basing your opinion of reds soley on reading that forum, then you'd think that supporting Liverpool was an extremely bizarre cult. But you can't deny that it does represent a rather cringeworthy proportion of your fanbase, given that it's the largest LFC forum. Kipper was killed in the summer btw & it was full of the anti Kenwright brigade who seemed to hate the EFC board more than they enjoyed the football, bizarre attitudes on there.
This. Not just a team but one which is struggling near the relegation zone. With the scousers fans it is both ******ed AND deluded. This is a fatal combination
