It's popular to make fun of him, but people forget the impact Bendtner made as a youngster. When Walcott was all the hype he pretty much stole his thunder from nowhere, doing better in the Carling Cup and then getting more games in the league compared to him for a while. Shame he became disillusioned with Wenger, but let's not pretend he never had potential. I've said it before if Wenger had shown 20% the patience he had with Walcott with Bendtner we would have had a solid backup striker throughout the last 2 years.
I wouldnt worry about it. As Im sure you know, when clubs are loooking to fill a role they will scout/look at a number of players for that role. Most of them will come to nothing more than a rumour in the media tryng to make us buy their papers and this story has made you bite so they have done their job. If this guy joins us I will eat my hat (I'll just make sure my hat is made of chocolate or something).
Erm, Bendtner hasn't exactly made it to be compared as such. Saying that, he was a good player for Arsenal who scored some important goals. However, he wasn't Arsenal quality so we let him go. So rumours of us getting the next Bendtner makes no sense.
He was Arsenal quality. His ability is there, the mentality isn't. That's what let's him down. Had he been playing semi-regularly as a backup striker for the last few seasons he would be a much better player than he is by now. His attitude and his agent telling him he's brilliant have been his downfall.
He got a few goals but more often than not his touch was poor and he rarely, if ever, changed a game. Arsenal should demand more from a striker.
His first touch always let him down. It's utter ****. Feel a bit sorry for this kid, nobody deserves to be called 'the next Bendtner'.
Bendtnar always seems to perform well for denmark, his mentality did let him down and the problem is that nobody knew how good he was because he always came on as a sub for us and was unpredictable.
