e-petition HOUSE OUR HOMELESS HEROES Responsible department: Ministry of Defence We the undersigned are angry and saddened at the plight of exservice personnel shamelessly abandoned, living in poverty on the streets of a country they served to defend. Up to 4500 exservice personnel are homeless as 80,000 MOD properties lie empty that could be used to provide shelter. This is a disgrace. We want our homeless heroes off our streets with a roof over their heads and an opportunity to regain their self confidence and self worth. We want to see disused barracks opened up as a short term solution to the housing problems. These men and women should be afforded the opportunity to work on run down barracks providing shelter for them as a means of giving them some self worth, dignity and a reason to wake up each morning. We want improved aftercare for PTSD sufferers which many of our homeless heroes suffer from. We the British public are very proud of our armed forces, this is our way to show that we will not let them be forgotten or abandoned. http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/26553
It's a nice idea, but sadly most have fallen destitute and have become reliant on drugs - if given housing, they would simply turn the property into a drug den. Or is that just the Irish ones?
They have been cutting the Armed Forces for more than 10 years now. The really sad part is that before a base is shut down it is made immaculate, money is spent to spruce it up before the place is closed. The quarters are then partly sold to the council on the cheap and the remaining properties are left empty just in case they re-open the base. I still drive past the last base I was posted to very often and most of the quarters are empty and have been for a long time.
Could you also change it so only Acworth can see his own threads? All he does is talk to himself anyways, he'd probably be happier...
I have been with a Protestant girl for 10 years, I am marrying her in June, we live in a Protestant area, my best friend and god father of my youngest is English, my kids go to mixed religion school, my 7 year old genuinely couldn't tell you what a Protestant or Catholic is (seriously), I am atheist and one of the biggest critics of the Catholic church you will find. I am not like you - I have actually wandered outside my own community and don't have backward inward looking views on everything, and be suspicious of the motives of everyone who does not belong to my own sect. To summarise, Ciaran is genuinely not as bad as you - but he is getting there.
